Hi all,
Just a little write up on the session today at Beautiful Memories Fuji Frontier Lab @ Stamford House this morning.
Lab owners Sanjay and Arti (H&W combi) graciously hosted the 10 of us today at 10am and we were in for a tour of the premises + discussion on the technical issues of the Fuji Frontier 340, printing processes and all else as stated in the very first post.
Day started off with a cup of coffee for all of us ;p ( on the house :embrass: ), we were also given a nice folder with a few articles to read (takeaway) + a CD containing the colour profile of the machine which we can use with Adobe PS and get as close as to "WYSIWYG" results provided your monitor is calibrated. Sanjay uses a "EyeOne" monitor calibrator which he has purchased from US and is happy to share the tool with customers who are also laptop users. He even invited us to bring our laptops down on another visit to have them calibrated, adjust your PS settings and print it there and then. No waiting of the usual four hours nor extra charges for instant printouts ... Machine is capable of churning out a picture in 1min 40secs and a picture very 5secs, it is also capable of both scanning and printing simultaneously.
In house facilities include 2 PCs for you to do your adjustments before you print them and also a nice sofa + ambience music while you wait for your prints. I had 10 prints done to see for myself and I must say I am most happy with the results! Its 50cents / copy fyi but good stuff.
Its unfortunate that I have to leave early due to an important lunch appointment and was unable to attend the whole session.
In short:
*Best technical discussion I've ever had in a lab. Sanjay knows his stuff at his finger tips, being a former engineer himself and explains it well enough for a beginner to understand (which is important other else some of us may be attacked by jargon rockets! :dunno: )
*Fantastic service (missing in a lot of labs ...), a sofa to rest while your prints are being processed???)
*It's definitely worth the early Sunday morning drag outta bed, having been to other paid workshops organised by clubs and offstone, this is the best. Sanjay has the agenda outline, goes indepth without jargons, pauses to take questions from you ...
*If I have to put a value on how much this workshop is worth, I'll pay $150-$200. Sanjay and Arti put this together for us for free, bought us coffee, helped us all learn some finer points ... FREE!!! I would give them           but I have only   :bsmilie:
What more can I ask for?
*Discounts for printing in bulk of maybe 100 prints and above?
Thank you once again Sanjay and Arti, I would be back on Thursday to have more stuff to print after my return from an overseas trip. May Beautiful Memories remain the favourite lab for many of us @ Clubsnap. Cheers!!!
