okie. will be helping sykestang to test out the remote on my 300D. for those who want to know, this is the gear i'm bringing alone tomorrow evening.

(a) 300D with BG-E1 grip. using only 1 FULLY charged original canon battery.

(b) Russian hacked firmware - for those who (inevitably) will ask, i've set the hack to the original settings of the original canon firmware. ie - i din modify the CF functions. in case those who dun know, i dun use 99% of the hacked functions, saved the FEC controls. check out the canon thread for my comments on this! so, i'm testing the remote under conditions as close as possible to the original canon firmware. besides, i did try to reset my camera to the original firmware. but, i can't get it to work. :dunno:

(c) Slik tripod

(d) Canon EF 50mm f1.8 MkII lens, and

(e) Sigma 500DG Super flash (with fully charged batteries) with stofen omnibounce attachment

i'll be taking test pics with sykestang in spinelli's using canon's RAW format. if time permits, will try taking pics in Large JPEG format. this is to test the time lag between shots. according to the manual, it takes 10-20 seconds between shots, and 5-10 seconds at <M> or <L> image setting. (read p45 of the canon 300D manual). so, lets see if the remote does perform as per manual's specs?

and, yes, for those who wants to know, i'll be taking a tape measure along to measure the max range of the remote. according to the manual, the max range is 5m.

if anyone wants to test other features, i'm open to reasonable suggestions? (ie, dun ask "does it work in the rain?", "wat is the angle i must hold the remote?", "wat is the best distance/position to stand when holding the remote?" etc...) pls leave ur requirements here, or better still, PM me? i'll be leaving my office ard 4.30pm tomorrow. so, won't have access to the internet till late at nite. i'll post all the test results and answer any questions for sykestang to the best of my abilities.
