I think Dr. Yao's price on the R3m is still a little cheaper, even with shipping.

The R3m is a step up from the R2a/R3a series. I quite like the black paint finish, very posh looking though may scratch a little easier. VF is nice and bright as can be expected. The shutter is a little more refined, a tighter snap when depressed and doesn't have that slight torque which is characteristic of the R2a/R3a. I think it will make for more stable shots. Apart from that, everything else seems identical.

If you're interested only in the body, let me know as I am looking to get the 50/2 Heliar Collaps. Black or chrome doesn't matter.

hey terence.
yeah someone on RFF was selling the R3M
i had a really great private deal on it but then i decided not to move ahead.
dont know. not sure if i 1) should upgrade my R 2) can deal with the scratches 3)should aim to get a leica someday

seems like you are one of the many who also want the lens alone..
:)
let me see how it goes. if only i can choose my serial no. from stephan :)

Wah...quite sad:

"Due to fraud problems in the past, I do NOT take credit card orders from Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, Indonesia, or the former Republics of the Soviet Union -- sorry. "

besides his email,
Does Dr. Joseph Yao have a B&M store?
Does he have a website or something?

Don't think he has a physical store or an online presence except for the email. I think he is a practising surgeon, IIRC. Met him personally before and found him to be likable, if that cuts any ice with you. In addition to purchasing a lens from him some years back, also sent my M and 8 element 35 'cron for servicing by a tech that he uses.

Isn't US$1049 approximately S$1600?

shoot, I cant read properly....must be too tired. then they about the same. considering the exchange rate.

so how much would shipping normally cost?

International Shipments: Standard international shipping is regular US Airmail for orders less than $250, and it has no tracking numbers. Orders larger than $250 must be shipped Express Mail with tracking number. Express Mail is usually 10 to 14 days. Most regular airmail shipments arrive two to three weeks after shipments. However ANY package can be delayed for as long as Customs sees fit. Fed Ex is an option, but very expensive. The Fed Ex minimum shipping charge for even a small package is $75, and you are sure to get customs fees. International customs duties, if applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer.

Some countries including France, Italy, Greece and Turkey have very slow foreign package delivery times. The CameraQuest slow record is FOUR months to France, but the average delivery to France seems to be three to four weeks. Canada deliveries are erratic due to customs delays. For example, most packages arrive to Vancouver from Los Angeles arrive in two weeks, but the record slow delivery to the same address is five weeks!
