Fraud Report: Sellers Beware!

Hi all,

Here's another fraud report. Story: Wife wants to buy gift for her husband in Nigeria and wants the seller to ship it over and all the b*llsh*t.


I wish the mod can post this in the Marketplace so that sellers can be warned.

Please call the courier representatives now and instruct them to pick
the item up from your place of work or home, give them a specific time
either at your lunch break or leisure time because they will still be
at work. Also you can check your spam/junk mail folder for my bank's
message because I got the notification delivered in my junk folder.

And as soon as they pick it up for delivery, scan the courier receipt
and slip that they will give to you after you have effected the
delivery then send it to my bank via this email address
info.remittance@accountant.com the person that will receive on behalf
of my husband is Mr Patrick Uwa. Below is the full information for the
delivery;

Welcome to the internet. Nigeria is famous for such scams already for many years.
If we put all these jokes and scams into the Marketplace section then there's little or no space left.
We expect people to do their homework and use common sense.

Good intention, but this scam is age old long, most people are aware of this. however there are still some one fall into such traps,

two main reasons why would somebody still fall into it; one is greed, another is don't do homework, thatis why these scammers never change their patterns still able find their prays.

so what if sellers don't do their homework, or want to try their luck, than putting it all over the forums is also pretty useless.

It's useful. I'm still reading it.

Besides the story of long lost prince and princess or relatives of late kings and queens, bankers businessman, etc., I'd like to find out what other stories they have in their mind.

Who knows I can spun up a good book when I retire, and become next gen Ernest Hemingway since I can't produce any acceptable shots that is. :bsmilie:

I've been selling stuff online for more than 10 years, and my best advise to all newbies is - if you see the word "Nigeria", just delete the email.

Such scams are documented in many sites, just need to cut and paste part of the email, or their email address, do a Google search, many search results will pop out.

Here is how they work.
