Yup. But you can always soften the image mah... :bsmilie:

Lazy.... :sticktong

But to tell the truth, the 50mm mac was the lens that made me realise ALL magazine covers and model photospreads are doctored.

i'm positively certain that my wallet is not a proven product  ...so i'll leave the 7-14mm in my wish list for a long time :bsmilie:

i'm consider getting the E510 body only (if oly sg does have the option when it is released) and save the couple of hundred $ for a FL50. that's why i'm looking for a good general purpose lens like the ZD 12-60mm or Leica D 14-50mm as my main lens.

thought since it will be my 1st DSLR purchase, i might as well plan it properly :sweatsm:

You don't need Leica D 14-50mm as it has IS build into it. E-510 already has sensor based IS. If u can't wait for ZD 12-60mm then I'll suggest you consider ZD 14-54mm for GP use.

Having done portrait shooting on the weekend, once I have focus I won't even refocus unless I or the model move a significant distance...the camera's on a tripod,, the model is situated within a certain area...no need to refocus. Once I get a focus lock I'll switch off the autofocus.

Yup, you reminded me of what I wanted to say but didn't.

Tripod - manual focus - voila! Fire away!

That unless you're going for some funky, milimetre thin DOF subject isolation kind of thing...

Wait, still need manual focus for that...

thanks, i was thinking of the ZD 14-54mm in my original post, heheh.

just hope the ZD 12-60mm is available around the same time as the E510.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but it probably won't.

Woah... the 7-14mm is not an easy lens to use. I sometimes get problems with the 11-22mm... that is why I gave up the 7-14mm.

What were the issues you faced with the 11-22mm? Just curious. I know that the perspective is distorted, but I kinda like that effect.

ya, I really think that the 12-60 will be launched together with the new pro body.

Which is probably like end of the year the earliest.

Actually I am thinking a 12-60 will not be the best combo as the 60mm is not very useful if you are into shallow DOF for portraits.

My ideal system will probably be
E410+11-22mm
E510+50mm

Light enough to carry and versatile for almost ALL my shooting needs. And maybe a light 40-150 for the occasional tele shot.

But like that need to carry two different sets of batteries.

hahaha, thats what i expected, no bubbles bursted.

based on the advice and replies so far...i'm looking at this 3 options:

1. E510 body only + ZD 14-54mm + ZD 50mm prime
(est $3k - $3.5k)

2. E510 + kit 14-45mm + ZD 50mm prime and wait for ZD 12-60mm
(est $2.4k before 12-60mm)

3. L1 + ZD50mm prime (est $3.2k - $3.5k) hope L1 price drops more

Perspective control is important for my assignments and the 11-22 can be challenging sometimes.

Bingo, that was what I was thinking of at the same time.

E510 + 12-60 + 30mm F1.4

I would replace the Sigma with the Leica 25mm instead. But that is just me.

oh ya.

Anyway since I have a E300 and E330 now with 3 oly BLM-1s... I guess probably I will end up with a E330/E510 combo :)

I think the L1 drop price overseas already right?

Seriously, it may be a good idea if you can pick up a cheap second hand body like maybe E500/E300 for and then mount a 11-22mm and 50mm prime. I think this combo is very convenient. The 11-22mm + 2nd hand E500 may not be much more expensive than the 12-60mm.

L1 price is $2.8k locally, think cheapest is in the US, forgot which website, around US$1.4k.

think its unlikely that i'll get a 2nd hand body when the new E bodies are just around the corner. getting the newer bodies will probably subdue my BBB syndrome and allow my wallet to recover for a longer period ;p

Also, don't forget the affordable wide angle.

He can just save up and wait.

What about me...I NEED IT NOW!!!!

Olympus shouldn't be wasting time redeveloping lenses they already have...why can't they just produce the same lenses and just replace the motors if they want SWD, or wait until next year and instead finish the standard lens line.

Step by step, budd.Olympus done very well in lens.Man,4.5 years time, already almost 30 lens!!How can you except more??
