This Utopia fashion show was my very first attempt at a runway model shoot.
All shots were taken using E510 (Manual setting) & 40-150mm kit lens only .....

Luckily there were some "Old Birds" (seasoned and veteran kind souls) to give me some quick crash course tips and advises on how to capture these events.

I must say it was really really an intense, exciting and at the same time very exhaustive experience for me.

At the end of the 30mins show my hands were visibly shaking and trembling from the long period of holding the cam and tele lens (even though this combi are already quite light weight) and also from the constant adjustment of the shuttle speed and the LCD reviewing due to the uneven and changing lighting conditions thru'out the whole runway.

The Pros there were all using pro cam and big long lenses with monopod and mini ladder! Some prefer to use flash while others use ambient/stage lightings to shoot.

At that time I wished I had the fantastic little tuna 150mm f2 with me or the excellent 50-200mm SWD. It would have made my day!

Well I have certainly learned alot from that shoot. The next time I will be more prepared for them!..........will be still using my old trusted and proven 40-150mm kit lens....of course....;)

Hey andrew! That picture itself is definitely a keeper/winner! Your trusty setup and yourself never fail to impress me and make me keep believing that our gears are never the limitation to photography once you really understand how to use them! (puts me to shame for blaming my rig for the crappy pics I took at some point in time (and even now), haha)

Your pictures never fail to astound me. Keep posting your excellent shots! Lovin' them!:heart:

All taken in Indonesia, using 14-42mm

I love the grit and the intensity of the processing.

Bro, when shooting fashion show, the fashion is the priority, and in this case, almost all details on the model has disappeared. Something to think about in processing and exposure setting ok? Nice composition. That is pro level work. Just that the exposure killed everything.

Thanks Brother Bear!

Thanks microcosm for the feedback.........There were certainly many learning points from this first attempt.
Yes I've seen those shots taken by the "Old Birds" (Professional) using FF cam and big lenses, they were simply mind blowing. It was crystal clear and sharp!
Now I know where those shots you always see in fashion magazine come from......... :-)

I gotto admit that taking fashion show was much much more exciting than shooting "mei mei" model shoot.
The adrenaline rush was unbelievable for me!
The action was fast! The models were beautiful! The fashion was awesome! My heart was pounding! My mind was racing! My hands were trembling! But the lighting sucks!.........hehe!

Well all the shots were taken using ISO 800 and f5.6 with different shutter speeds depending on the location of the models. All shots were cropped to taste!

This is one of the few installments from the Utopia fashion Show @ Vivo City that I gonna showcase .

Enjoy! :D
