For the price of a new Lowepro Fastpack 250, any other contenders?

That are perhaps better at similar role or more value for money?

Its been about 3 years since the initial launch so i am guessing by now there should be equivalent models by the competitors.

Given a choice, is the Fastpack your to go bag or something else?

Have a look at the kata 3-n-1 series, they also offer the same quick access like the fastpack. Personally, I prefer thinktank backpacks though

My fastpack 250 was my cam bag many generations ago....

From Fastpack 250 -> compu-primus -> kata 3n1-33 -> TT SW HD.

The last one. ;P

Those are just my backpacks... I haven't gone into shoulder bags yet, and day bags... *faint*.

I'm looking for backpack, and shortlisted kata 466i.

Any bags that are comparable and worth considering?

I saw vanguard up rise 45 or 46. It's good but it's heavy!

It really depends on your needs really. I personally do not like the 466 or 467 type of bags, too much unzipping to get to gear.

THe problem I have with the TT backpacks is that they just simply do not offer the versatility of the Fastpacks. Sure they don't hold a ton of gear but by the simple fact of having a top compartment for my personal stuff means that the Fastpack becomes my go to bag for the majority of trips. It even has a compartment for a laptop (which more often than not becomes a slot to put documents and magazines...)!

I too have been looking for a replacement for the Fastpack, preferably one with a section to hold a tripod but till now, I have yet to find one that can compete with the Fastpack. If you do find one, please let me know!

.

The Versapack is promising...my guess is that only when there is a fraction of Fastpacks left will Lowepro do a larger + laptop version of the Versapack.

TTSW HD has the laptop slot at the side, but don't have the top compartment like Fastpack. Has tripod holder also. But don't have the top compartment to put in big items. Has one outer front pocket, can only put some tickets, small maps when travel.

You might want to take a look at the Kata Pro-Light Bumblebee series.

My main requirement is I must be able to put a water bottle in the bag.

Photography is an outdoor hobby, besides studio shoots. How can I survive w/o water?

If I carry a cam bag that doesn't allow me to put bottle inside, it defeats the purpose

I think bumblebee costs alot more than fastback......

And the zipper for bumblebee is down facing. I don't feel secure......

Btw why TS not consider a 2nd hand? Should be able to get it ard $80

FB250 is good for carry heavy stuff.

Got 2 stretch side pockets outside, can put a 500ml bottle at each side. TTSW or TTSW Pro maybe. TTSW HD is too big for normal outing, I use it for overseas trip only.

There are a lot of bags now that have left the fastpack in the dust. Take a look at Vanguard Uprise and Skyborne series, Kata 3n1 series among many.

I just bought 466i for $115, after much consideration. Compare here and there, 466i is the still most versatile of all, at a cheap price.

currently using kata 467i loving it, though it doesnt have that function of side draw of fastpack, but i tink kata 467i is worth the money in terms of looks n function
bought it 2nd hand off BnS
