Yeah, i've read this, but I cant trust myself installing things like this ahaha. is it possible if I buy online then go to shop and ask them install it for me?

Installing the focusing screen is easy and took only less then 20 second.
Just closely follow the intrustion on the manuel and off you goes. Do it in a relatively
clean enviroment.

Is the Nikon D40 screen user changeable?

If it is, it can be changed in less than 10 seconds, and I think most shops would help you if they have time/you buy from them.

If not, it's a more complex operation and might require un-installing frames and retainer masks in the mirror chamber. Best is if you let someone else do it for you. There might be a fee for this as it involves more work.

Just called orient photo, they do have one for D40, price is $60, and they say will install for free.
