My newbie nite shot on moving object...

if any of you guys are trying to look for a shot like this, can make your way down to the big field opposite beauty world. there's this muslim family who plays it every weekend without fail. when i went up to ask about how the flying saucers work, they were very friendly and even offered to let me play with it. but i didn't, fearing that i may spoil the gadget.

Question..... were you using bulb mode?

cos if you do, how long was it.

and if not, care to share your settings? TIA :D

yes use bulb mode. give u more sense of control. and bring a black cardboard with u as well. it helps when u go for long exposures and u don't want ur pics to get too overexposed. :)

The Black Card is used like a shutter. Just place it in front of the lens to reduce the exposure and remove to allow exposure.

ok, forgive my ignorance :( but somehow i still have no idea how you do it? and can't visualise it, if you place it in front of the lens wouldn't it block the images tht's going to be captured? Care to show the tips n how to do it? i've been meaning to do a good night photog... Thank you so much :)

Hi there,

The black card is placed temporary just to cut down the exposure for those brighter portion. I have one book that mentioned about it, but my scanner is spoilt. :(

A picture tells a thousand words. I will just the following 2 photos for example. Maybe you will understand better.

The trails of the kites look really awesome. Does anyone have an idea where such shots can still be taken? Cos the previous replies have been posted some time ago.

TIA :)

Hi there,

You can still find them at around Clarke Quay there.
