Hi Thanks Guys, that was really helpful. So to do aerial photography I need to apply for permit.

Just fly 5km away from any airport / airbase and fly not more then 60m in height, and you should be fine. Also do note where you are flying making sure that there are no people around where you can potentially hit if the craft goes out of control. Just be responsible and cautious and you should be fine.

If you are flying the drone for the first time. Try to fly low and within 20m around you in an open field. Once you are familiar with your controls then you can fly further.

For TS's reference:

Aeromodelling

What is It?
Aero-modelling is an activity that involves a model aircraft that is primarily controlled by radio signals from a remote transmitter being operated by a person.

Why are there Limits?
A model aircraft when operated in the vicinity of manned aircraft in flight may distract pilots during critical stages of flight such as take-off or landing. There are no means to control the flight of such aerial objects other than through remote controls. There may be occasions when unmanned airships inadvertently launch into uncontrolled flight and drift into the direct path of an aircraft. Given the relatively higher speeds of manned aircraft, it is not easy for pilots to spot the comparatively smaller, slower-moving model aircraft in order to take the necessary avoiding action against collision, when such objects drift into the path of manned aircraft. This adds to the risks of collision, which could result harm to the aircraft or persons and property on the ground.

How Do I Fly Model Aircraft Safely?
To ensure the safety of aircraft and people on the ground, flying of model aircraft should not be conducted within these limits without a permit:

Within 5km of an airport or airbase
Higher than 200 feet above mean sea level outside 5km of an airport or airbase

Do I Need To Notify CAAS To Fly Model Aircraft?
No. If you are planning to fly model aircraft within the area and height limits, there is no need to submit a notification to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.

When Do I Need A Permit To Fly Model Aircraft?
A permit is required when flying model aircraft outside the area and height limits. You will need to apply for a permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. Applications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please allow for 7 working days to process your application, as assessment will have to be conducted in consultation with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).
