Dynax 5 does have an in-built flash :dunno:
True.
But it all depends on the subjects you take.
Landscape - Flash not needed.
Portrait, Candid, Still-life, Fashion, Action, Sports, Events - Good to have for additional off-camera fill in flash.
If you take close-range photographs, then the guide meters of your in-built flash would surfice.
It also depends on your budget, as there are different models of external flashes to choose from.
Different models, different capabilities. So you need to decide what you need the flash to accomplish before deciding on the model and make.
The newer model of minolta flashes are all HS enabled. Meaning that they are capable of performing High-speed Sync.
HS models - takes photos with flash above 1/250 shutter speeds.
xi models - takes photos to a maximum of 1/90 or 1/200 depending on the model of your camera.
Take your time to find out what you need before investing in a flash.
A good flash unit can serve you for many years before you need to upgrade to a better one to suit your needs.
