Flash Mounted Top Handle

Just to share what I designed and made for a few friends recently. All parts assembled and secured to the camera flash shoe with 1 single thumb-screw. Can be used with or without the mic holder.

Because of a special cap, the handle won't slip off even when loose. Quite proud to say that this is the only design with such a safety feature in the market. Flash-mount handles from SHAPE and Cineik WILL definitely slip off.

why not add some accessory screw holes on it? would be great :)

Oh, that was considered. But being a run & gun shooter, we want the top handle to be light-weight, hence we made the handle short and small (a heavier handle means a longer or heavier glidecam setup). And also, if items are added to the handle, there will be insufficient grip space for the hand.

Hi Alternus, nice work! I'm thinking of getting a Sony A7 and the sony XLR-K1M adapter. The problem is the XLR-K1M requires the multi-interface shoe on the A7 for electronics and another separate coldshoe for mounting. But the A7 does not have another coldshoe. Of course, there are many brackets and rig on the market with one or more coldshoe but they use the 1/4 tripod thread. Many people are attracted to the A7 for its tiny form factor. Adding a cage or bracket under or around the camera body makes it uncomfortable to hold when uisng the EVF.

Would you have a custom-made solution?
