How much does a flash extender cost? (roughly) Anybody??

Cheers!!

As far as I know they cost about 80 SGD for most small sized flashes and are only available for external flash units.

The price seems to have come down a bit - my colleague just purchased his for S$65 (for the SB80DX) a couple of weeks ago.

This is a Fotoguide (opposite Cathay and Prime) in Peninsula Plaza.

Thanks Darren (and Ian)...... But just curious.... isn't it like one standard size only? Cos it's fitted to the flash via an adjustable velcro strip right? :dunno:

Nope - the side brackets are sized differently for different flashes - consequently, the extender for Canon's 550EX may not fit 100% (it may fit, but there will be some play (droop) or the flash-to-lens distance may not be correct).

See here for an example of an ill-fitting flash extender on the right side (my friend's btw - he didn't follow instructions on how to fit properly :dunno: ) - the lens should be flat and not curved.

I am using the SB28DX - not sure if the extender is the same as the SB24.

Fotoguide carries a variety of extenders to fit most popular flashes - just drop by and check with them.

thanks for the info. :) Appreciate it.

Anybody knows is there a flash extender for Canon 420EX Speedlite? Can't seem to find it and whether the extender for the 550 can be modified for the 420?

if the flash extender slips and points leftish or rightish, it may miss the target altogether, so beware. An advantage of digital postview i suppose. do any of the owners fix it to the flash with velcro etc?

Got the flash extender today from Fotoguide. Like what Darren said..... $65. (SB-24 and SB-28 uses the same model):)

i do, but it's easier for me cos my flash already has the velcro strips for my pocket bouncer. the little velcro strips on the flash extender does make it a bit easier to slip on the stretch collar IMO.
