was at AMK yesterday, there's this flag day event going on. noticed that there's been quite a few flag day event going on each weekend!

come to think of it, i've not donated to charities ever since the NKF saga.

i've grown wary and distrusting towards most charities.

wonder if anyone shares the same viewpoint as me?

maybe due to my nice round tummy, i do get approached by this other group, they are the ones who go around hawker centers, shopping malls, MRT stations etc. with this placard or folder, claiming that they are from so-n-so charity and they will quickly flash their i.d card in ur face.

these ppl are normally in their late teens to early 20s.

i'm not sure what others feel about them, nor do i have the time to find out the various homes or charities they represent, but i do feel a little more cautious when talking to them.

i don't trust these people. maybe it is once again due to the NKG saga...

anyone encounter them too?

I won't donate blindly. Normally I will see what it's for. The problem is, most of these people are kids from various schools and have no idea what they are collecting donations for.

These are the ones I explicitly DO NOT TRUST. next time, double check their ID's and see what it says.

such flag day donation activities are tightly controlled.

IIRC, each weekend can only let one charity organization run a flag day, so there are only limited weekends on each year, and those many charity organizations have to ballot for a chance each year. So when the charity organizations able to run a flag day donation, they will mobilize whatever manpower resources they can find to ask as much donation as possible, if not, they will not able to go for balloting another flag day donation next year. beside this, there are many do and don't, they are briefed to stick to the rules. if in doubt, just ask them, they are given a standard scripts to reply you.

Is it the kids or our education system for this ignorance?

You can't blame them for having to fill up CIP hours.

NKF and Ren Ci are 2 out of few hundreds or thousands of charities here? Why because of 2, discriminate the whole lot? :thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:

i will, for the sake of the stickers that nobody will ask me that day.

I still donate to flag day because I can decide the amount that I want to donate :)

I don't donate to Ren Chi, NKF and any charities that set a minimum sum donation :thumbsd:

These charities set minimum sum donation ...
for $5 donation call this number xxxxxxxxx
for $10 donation call this number xxxxxxxx
for $50 donation call this number xxxxxxxxx
blah blah blah

If you only want to donate $1 or $2, you cannot donate :(
Donation amount should be set by us not them :)

I'll donate if the person actually asks me to donate and tell me what it is for. I'll just ignore those who stick out the tins and say nothing

NKF is just a black sheep of the charity organisation.
Don't stop donating just because of them. There are many others who needs help. ;)

if a charity organisation is run by particular religion group, and this religion group also have some schools affiliated to them, some of the teachers and students of the schools will be mobilized to support the flag day donation activities.
