FL-600R - Owner Review and Comments

Hi all, I am doing a mass order and thread is currently being moderated

I suggest Olympus Singapore should organize a mass order from B&H or Adorama. :D

Haha, that is a good one, you should put this link in Olympus Singapore Facebook.
let them know that members of the most popular photography forum in Singapore are all ordering from bhphoto.

just did a search for price at BHPHOTO.
fl600r | B&H Photo Video

Price is US$299
UPS worldwide saver shipping US$42.46
Total US$341.46, which is only about SGD440

For 10 sets order, the shipping is US$101.77
Total for 10set + shipping is US$3091.77, which is about SGD$3988, so each set only about SGD$399:bigeyes:

Please count me in if anyone wants to start a Mass Order, maybe should also consider add the EP-11 eyecup as part of the Mass Order.

Quite obvious you seldom do online shopping? :P

Using exchange rate of USD1 to SGD1.3:

USD3091.71 = SGD4019.22

Add 2.5% Visa transaction fee:

SGD4019.22 x 1.025 = SGD4119.70

Add GST of 7%:

SGD4119.70 x 1.07 = SGD4408.08

Final unit price:

SGD440.80

In fact you do not even need to order 10. By just ordering 3 you need pay only about SGD450 per unit. This is enough savings and only $10 more than ordering 10 which will cause issues with lack of buyers.

Ultimately, when coming to warranty claim, original receipt is required and having a big group means many issues for the organiser.

You have to consider that if more than $500, GST will be levied. But if less than $500, no GST. So to do a mass order, the shipping cost savings must justify the 7% GST.

It's actually SGD$400. Therefore, even when buying 1, subjected to GST.
Btw, I have also checked with UPS Singapore that in addition to the shipping fees, they have a disbursement fee of 5%, min of SGD10 and max of SGD100.

Full details will be out in my mass order thread which is pending for moderation.

Thank you for that info regarding the receipt.. I will contact Olympus Singapore tmr and update everyone. If really need original receipt, won't be able to do mass order.

I thought bhphoto receipt is actually online receipt via email, we can actually forward the email to those who are in the mass order list, correct me if I am wrong.

Please read my post in details in conjunction with jamestan75's post I quoted. GST is added along with shipping and VISA transaction fees, which no forumer here mentioned.

I stand right in my pricing calculation unless someone else can prove it otherwise. There is already GST incurred in the other forumer's FL600R. Proof?

(USD299 + USD42.46) x 1.3 x 1.025 x 1.07 = SGD486.86

As the other forumer mentioned, if online email, then I suggest ordering by 3 (easier to get the numbers for shipment) or simply just get 2 other forumers to come together, easier for your logistic also. To save that $10 for all, just buy convenient.

Not really sure what you meant by added along. But my GST was paid direct to the UPS delivery guy. Only shipping and flash was charged during purchase.

No.

Yes, the price B&H charges you doesn't include GST for Singapore, they don't deal with that obviously.

Yups. That is why I said I didn't understand. :)

Hi guys, I have already checked with Olympus Singapore and they said a photocopy of the receipt is fine. I spoke to 2 staff just to be sure. Btw, only Olympus bodies enjoy additional 3 mths when registered online. All other products(including kit lenses and flash) gets only 1 year.

Btw, does anyone know who is moderating mass order forum? It's been taking quite long for my thread to be up

I was not correcting your calculation or anything, but to add to what you said in that GST will be levied if price of goods is more than a certain amount. In this case, I checked it is $400. This $400 does not include the shipping charge. So if u buy one flash, u dun have to pay GST bec the item on its own is less than $390. But if you buy 2 flash, obviously, the "package price" will be more than $400 and hence will be subject to GST. So, if you decide to MO, just make sure that the savings from combined shipping will balance out the GST that you will incur.

No, GST is calculated on the whole amount including shipping.

I guess then its not applied 100% of the time. :-)

That depends on the invoice they get their hand on but the regulation says it applies to the whole amount including shipping.

Again, I repeat for the sake of everyone. I paid GST for the ONE flash that I bought.
