Kiev MF cameras are well known by their flaws. I'd suggest you to put it on the shelf and buy something more reliabale if you want to do photography instead of learning mechanics. I am absolutely serious - no jokes or pulling your leg here. I got rid myself of 2 Kiev 6C cameras which I've bought in hope to use wonderfull East German Carl Zeiss Jena lenses but Kiev's constant problems have killed the idea.

In Soviet era (when they can't get any camers but Soviet) professional phtographers in Russia used to have 2-3 Kiev bodies and one or even 2 of them were constantly in service for repair

Agree that the effect is indeed nice.

But to answer your question, the leak appears to be from the film back. Is it loose? Try to avoid exposing the dark slide slot into the sun.

Looks like from the back.
Might need to replace the light seals of the back.

The Kievaholic page might be useful if you need more info.

No expert and don't have this camera. but my few cents,
1. Try looking at the inside of the camera with the camera under a very bright lamp to see if the light leaks in.
For the front, take off the film back and look in. For the rear, put on the film back and look from front with mirror up (or something similar).
2. Tape up with black electrical tape the areas that are suspicious (eg. film back)
3. For #2, you might want to tape all, shoot 1 frame, remove 1 tape > shoot 1 frame, etc. All the time noting which frame correlates to which tape taken off. This will let you identify where the leak is coming from.

Good luck. :)

That's exactly what I've ment, suggesting to get rid of the camera - to avoid all this voodoo stuff. Fixing one problem for Kiev doesn't mean that another problem won't pop up during the next photo session.

Besides light leaks I see (though I might be wrong), what we used to call "columns" or "poles" - dark vertical lines. They are coming from uneven movement of curtains. This is another very common problem for all Kiev MF cameras
