looking at both.. the eyes structure are different.. and the former doesnt seem to have a mouth?!

anyone can help?

1st one should be a sole fish

2nd one should be a halfbeak or flounder?

thanks lovells.. :D

hmm was trying to find the specific scientific name for the solefish...
did a search in fishbase.org but still couldnt find a matching pic.. :(

as for the flounder, is that a peacock flounder?

wah, serious or not? halfbeak on its side one meh? :p

I think the first one is a sole, as the fins on either side (dorsal and anal fins) don't look like they have spines. I have photo of a pair of this fish ... both slightly different in colour. Can't say what species it is.

The second one could be either the peacock or panther flounder (Bothus pantherinus) or the flowery flounder (Bothus mancus). Both the males of these species have the long pectoral fins, except the flowery flounder grows to 40+cm, while the other is only up to 30cm.

Hope this helps :)
