First try at Night exposure @ Clarke Quay

I think u clicked on the button for post links, instead of post image.

As for your shot, just a little suggestion, to the right you see the bungee thingy, i think if you want to include it, at least include the second pole completely. Cutting it off seems kind of weird. At this hour, u do expect some river taxis, factor that in, because you will get some light trails given that your exposure time is more than enough to capture any light trail of any passing vehicle or boats. How this light trail cuts across your image, is important, because it can look like a deliberate and nice inclusion, but as alot of shots here have shown, many do not factor that in and it look more like an accidental inclusion, which can seem rather careless or even unsightly, I feel.

Light trails can be used as lines, and that can lead you somewhere. Clarke Quay is hard to compose because you have a continuous row of shop houses, how you compose this is tricky, because as your shot went, I think you had cut it off somewhere on the left. What about the other shop houses to the left? You had excluded because your lens weren't wide enough?

thanks for the tips bro.would sure keep that in mind next time.and yes i was only using a kit lens.and the widest i could go was 18mm.so it was very limited as to what i could do.

No one is telling u not to move around and find a different perspective. This angle its very hard to generate any depth in your image, hence it looks pretty flat. If you know of the limitation, then u can find another way to compose such that u can fit what u want to fit with say 18mm. If not, u can try a pano, but due to the light trails it might be hard to get a clean pano.
