The wait is over. Just bought a GH2 from Cathay. All good until you try to monitor audio. No live audio output from component or HDMI! Back to the Zoom H1/2/4.
Thanks for the link. I did notice some faint brownish banding under flourescent rings but not with incandescent lighting or with energy saving bulb. Low light is impressive, much better than G2 but not as good as a hacked GH1. (but GH13 has got worse banding then the GH2. )
For videographers, a variable ND filter is a must if you want to shoot wide open at 1/50 in day time.
Focusing speed is not significantly improved as touted. In fact with 14mm pancake, it was downright sluggish.
Construction-wise, I noticed that the mount no longer works as well with olympus lens as GH1/G2. Very hard to screw on/off. (Maybe its just my unit) GH2 uses a different battery from the rest of the G/GH1/GF series. Currently no stock.
Audio is clean and adjustable with 4 levels. AGC -if presentation all- is not noticeable.
Still struggling with some of the controls. AE lock don't seem to work at all on my unit. Anyone else got this problem?
Thanks for the sharing, but i would thought the GH2 will have better low light performance than the GH1/GH13.
So can you switch off the AGC and control your audio manually? When you monitor out your video thru HDMI, is the camera built in LCD screen still active or goes blank like the Canon?

i m not too good at this AGC stuff but from the menu, it allow u set 4 level of volume. Interestingly it had option to control "wind cut" on the mic. I think it is the background noise reduction. there are a total of 4 setting for this "wind cut" option. off, low, standard and high.
I did not do any direct side by side comparison with GH1/GH13. My personal opinions of GH2's low light is made in comparison with images from a rental hacked GH13 - not stock GH1-I shot last week. The hacked version recorded at higher bit-rate and produced cleaner low light images than the GH2. Side-by-side with the G2 I currently own, the GH2 is definitely better in low-light.
All motions are shot at 24P, then convert to DVD blueray and retain 24fps. For cameras, 25P or 50p will likely be used for TV with 50/60hz, so no need for 24fps. 25P is for 50hz PAL system, matching equipment with power supply for smooth video.
