Parisilk Holland Village. Better hurry if you are really interested... they have one more set left only.

uhh...you really think the equipment a photographer uses is going to impact his/her photography style?

But hey, believe in what you want to believe in :)

U misunderstood me. I was trying to tell you that DP1 IQ will be better than your those coming out of your gear listed in your signature. Go borrow one and try it.

lol i had a dp1 and a d90..i kinda agree with u..just that its extremely slow.

any one with the dp1 and 2? can share the speed increase?

the bbb virus is hitting

From the Japan review and outdoor photo, DP2 did not improve in speed for focus. Just the processor changed.
Loss of color remains the same at higher iso but the green cast problem got mixed reply.

But I would certainly want to know from user experience of DP2 if the battery self discharge function is still available :bsmilie: And red blinkies too. :bsmilie:

I will definitely be upgrading to SD15 when released.

Thanks for the info. What about the writting to card speed and the startup?
This sensor isnt meant for high iso anyway. But dp1 f4 lens /speed limits it use as a convenient machine

haha, sorry for misunderstanding ya then

yea, if any of my peers gets one, i'll be sure to go play with it ;)

With the bigger sensors, the Sigma DP series would have much better bokeh than normal PnS. I guess that is what sets it apart from the low end PnS with small sensor.

The DP2, with a 41mm lens and bigger aperture, in my opinion would be slightly better suited (than the DP1) for close ups as well as portaits. I have decided to explore this aspect of the camera. Note that I am not using any close up adapters here.

While DP1 was mostly used for landscape, I feel the DP2's role would be a little more versatile.

All these images are straight out of the camera JPG, so there is no adjustmens or even any conversion being done on SPP.

Is it me or that the images are not as sharp as what the DP1 produces?

It is normal for Sigma to produce softer image when shoot in direct jpeg. But was it shot at 13MP or 4.6MP?

I set it to FINE and the full res is 2640px × 1760px.

Would shooting raw improve sharpness?

The raw file is sharper than direct jpeg due to more detail. So far, my experience is direct jpg tends to be softer unless the sharpening option is set high. For close object, they are hard to differentiate but on landscape, trees and grass can be as a gauge.

PC screen quality, cropping software plays a big part too. Your 4.6MP pics sharpness are good.

Thanks for the tip. The Foveon sensor output has so far been quite outstanding.

Raw is not required if you do not want to enhance dark area. Like abstract etc. Raw in sigma is good for reveal shadows and contrast using X3 fill but is only in RAW mode. But SPP don't offer noise reduction for raw.

If one just wanted to enhance color, brightness, contrast and sharpness, the camera direct jpeg will do fine.

Can anyone share if the software provided is Mac OS compatible?

Thanks.

Yes it is. There is a Mac version of the Sigma Photo Pro software in the CD-ROM.

Wow the colours looks too overly zesty to me till my eyes hurt. Must be getting old... The sky in the 2nd shot from spheredome looks too artificial, too poster colour like cos too flat looking w/o much gradation.

Is it the saturation? Contrast too high? Or the yellowish green region of the light spectrum being boosted too much?

Anyway to tune it down in SPP to a more "natural" look? Or is there a mode on the DP2 for vivid, natural, portrait, etc?

I'm kind of eager to see how it compares to the new Oly uFT coming soon. :D

Yes, you have identified 3 of characteristics in my pics. The dramatic effects, the flat contrast and turquoise color. When contrast is low, a picture will look flat, too dramatic looks non natural and green, I don't know how. Thus the X3 filled must be used within limit for majority viewing. Excellent ID. :D

Thus I only use Foveon for visual reference purpose as our eyes see thing much more clearly than the camera and what you see is what you get when you are there, every inch of it.

Having identified the above, I have always been asking asking. With our eyes, what is the color of the tree leaves at high noon (local weather) in a open park. Is it deep green or warm green. What is the color of raintree leaves during shedding? Are the tree trunk brown with barks or black. What is the color of the trees from afar? Not many observed.

I see alot of discussion on the colors/exposures that the Foveon produces, but is no one taking into consideration it's B&W capabilities?

If my memory doesn't fail me, there's alot of hype surrounding the Foveon sensor and B&W lovers. It was featured in one of the recent issues of Black And White photography, and that's just the DP1. DP2 might even be better!

But yes i agree the scene looks more accurate to what our eyes see, like a very minor HDR ran through on it. Some may not like it, as for me i'm neutral - but i think this certain look of IQ will soon become a signature "drawing" belonging to the DP series.

Black and white photos are different rules and appreciation. Never in this arena for me. I just like looking at them.

Perhaps you can share why is Foveon able to present better in B/W picture.
