I read with keen interest in getting this camera. Does anyone know if I can have any acessories for this camera e.g lens ood, macro lens etc?

About the s9700fd as mentioned by Limbang, when is dis model coming out?

The S8000FD cannot have any adpater attached to it so you are not able to add the add the items you wish to as it does not have a removeable ring around the lens barrel area like the Canon S2/S3/S5 IS cams.

for the 9700fd, are you sure there is such a cam or is it just a rumour? I have not seen any news of it in the various review websites as yet.

I'm just quoting from what Limbang said...

So that means I cant attach any filters to it lah...

I believe if those who bought this camera can post their pictures in here will help boost the popularity of the S8000fd. Cuz I was influenced to buy the LX2 because of the thread in Pana created by one of the user (I forgot his nick) and never regret that decision. :bsmilie:

Prosumer cams are in-between the compacts and the DSLRs as they have features that the DSLRs have but not all.

Good learning cam and for those who want to explore before taking the plunge.

any reviews or pictures taken by this camera on by users here? seems like there's a lack of interest in this camera...or is it still too new in the market?

You know, I have also noticed. I bought about 40 magazines since I started having interest in cameras and photography. Seems like Fuji camera models are not so popular with camera reviewers.

But they did reviews of the S9600 and the S6500FD. ;)

just to check, anyone bought this camera and regret
wat r the things tat u dislike?

dpreview just posted its review of the Fuji S8000fd...

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms8000fd/

In my opinion, this camera is a high-ISO disaster as it is using a conventional CCD instead of the higher sensitivity Super-CCD sensor in the earlier Fuji FinePix cameras. :(

argh, look at its comparison with s6000fd. looks like s6000fd is still a winner.

No surprise.

With a bigger sensor and Super CCD, the S6500fd definitely wins hands down over the S8000fd which is aimed at general consumers who want a low price as well as a super long zoom and targetted to compete with other new super long zoom cameras such as Olympus Sp550/560-UZ, Pana FZ18 etc.

Fuji's main advantage over others is its Super CCD without which, there is no reason to buy Fuji cameras whose look sucks when compared to the slick designs of other manufacturers.

Unless technology improves alot more, trying to squeeze even more photosites on the tiny 1/2.5" sensor used on the S8000fd/SP560-UZ/FZ18 will only degrade the image quality.

true, but at least they did implement image stabiliser as a way of compensation.
