Apart from max aperture, you may want to check out the physical dimension of the sensor (CCD) if possible. For low light, the bigger the sensor, the better -- lower noise possible. There are no "standard" sizes for compact camera CCDs, so this info may not be easy to find. Manufacturers are also not keen to reveal how tiny the sensor is.
I thought this camera was an option too for me, but when I visited Fuji's website and saw that there's noise in the dark areas of the sample photo, even at ISO100, I decided to look around further for other possibilities.
