As there is a lot of people complaining about bad sales personnel(con tactics etc) Decided to share my buying experience.
Just brought this lens today 27.08.09 at funan IT mall @ $635 cash (i know i can get cheaper maybe 628, 620, but it is ok~ IT IS FATE! that i walk into this shop)
OF cuz, before buying of lens, checking of clubsnap is a must! Thanks CLUBSNAP!
I walk in, ask for the price, the person say 535, wow, amazing! Then i requested to test, tested for focusing for about 5 - 10mins, good copy of lens, so we continue to talk, and i requested to see warranty, it was a gray set..... ahhhhhh~
Told the person i wanted one with warranty so ask for price again~ 642 for any other payment other than cash~ Cash was 635. So i bargain down to 640 for credit card payment. 5 dollars is ok~ ^_^
Tested again another copy, focusing was not constant for me, so requested for another lens, luckily they got one more, cuz the person told me it was last set, but then the colleague managed to point out another set. Tested it, was happy with it, check warranty card etc~ then when about to foot the bill, she told me must add GST etc, became 647, 12 dollars difference from cash payment. So i decided to pay by cash~ bo bian 12 dollars- 6 chicken rice~ the ATM very near only, same floor ^_^.
So paid for it, waited for the receipt, came back with the receipt asked me, do you want a filter for it? why not~ how much was the filter 67mm UV, quoted 40 for HOYA~ OMG~ i can add 10 dollars and get a nikon NC filter~ So it is ok, did not want it. Wanted to recommend me another brand, cheaper~ can't remember the brand, must be those Vitacom, kenko "oolu oolu brand" turn her down, we both say thank you, and that end my day!
Moral of the story Although it was a pleasant experience for me, but for someone with less preparation, you might have get the grey set~ without knowing it, brought the UV filter for "an amazing price" and say damn it at home after you brought it. There was nothing wrong with the service, no con, no cheating, they just choose to rely the information in a way more beneficial to its shop~ choosing not to say info that might make us walk away.
Most of the time, the shop will quote a very attractive price(esp when it is out of stock) to make you stay in the shop or go back to the shop, and when you decided to buy it, they will say this and that and add additional amount to the bill.
I will definitely go back to this shop, why not, i know my stuff, they are just doing their job.
As usual check clubsnap before buying!
P.S. I love my tamron 17-50mm~ It is great, did my own sensor cleaning too, now my camera is free of dust, maybe one or two minor ones~ but i will pretend that i never saw it.
Cheers, hope everyone have a great day.
