Finalizing on hooting K-x

haha, thanks..
i have another qs.. with this Helios 44k-4 i bought, it's a k-mount manual lens
but with this thing poking out, when i mount it, it will stay wide open even though i try to change the aperture by turning the aperture ring on the lens.

so how do i stop it down?

There is a custom setting in your camera that says something like "Using Aperture Ring". set it to "permitted". Switch your camera to "M" when u press the EV button the lens will stop down.

thanks. it works..
so it means that i cant manuall set the aperture to my desired value?

Yup... It's not an A lens, where the aperture can be set with your Camera.

It's normal, just like a M lens which doesn't have the electronic contacts. You can set the aperture to what you want with the ring but the camera holds the lens wide open for easy focusing except for when you press the EV/green button to meter, and when you press the shutter. Only with M42 lenses on DSLR will it stop down as you turn the ring.

alright..
so as long as i change the aperture manually on the aperture ring, i have to press either the Green button or EV to let the camera know?

Only when in M mode ...

Pressing the green button will stop down the lens to what you selected on the lens and it will meter (stop down metering)

alrighty then, thanks again for the prompt reply..
so far the manual lens is staying on my cam more than the other 2 kit lenses..

Can consider tamron 90mm macro if u have a tight budget and I believe the photos that came from that lens won't lose to the DFA 100mm. =P

Hi, how much is the tamron 90mm? aperture? Thanks. I'll also do a search...

hi guys i have a qs again..
it's about the catch-in focus..

i'm having a hard time having catch-in focus working as it should.
I've set to permit using aperture ring, and also turned on catch-in focus..
but sometimes it works and sometimes it just snap when i click the shutter button fully even when i'm not focused(no green hex indicated)
which means the camera thinks that catch-in focus is not turned on..

i've checked AF.A too, but it just snap away.... weird..

Did u flip the switch beside the lens to AF instead of MF?
