Filter choice?

Hey guys, I'm planning to get a Canon 24-105L lens.

Burning a big hole in my pocket already.

Therefore, besides getting a B+W filter
what other recommendations of filter can i get?

I think he was asking for alternatives in Brands instead of type of filter.

since you burnt a big hole in your pocket, wat diff does it make to burn it slightly bigger for a better brand filter? Get those cheap filters and the IQ is going to suffer. might as well get a cheap lens.

hmm is there a big difference between the B+W and Hoya Pro 1 Super HMC???
If yes, i guess i'll have to save up for a B+W then..

price difference between those 2 is not alot..

L lenses naturally will go with B+W..

Its the IQ u're looking for when u go L.. so IQ all the way!

Btw u can google online.. 24-105 with various filters.. Some lens suit the Hoya well enuff.. Up to you to make the choice

Haha, its not haze but UV-Haze. One word

It filter out UV (ultra-violet) light that caused a bluish haze on some of our color pictures and loss of definition on distance objects.

the bluish haze is called UV-Haze.

to be honest, my preference is to buy the cheapest piece of filter possible, and unscrew it togetehr with the lens cap and throw it into my bag

as to why, i think the best iq you will get is without any filter.. uv filter anyways. but that's just a personal point of view.. and come to think of it, don't even need to put filter that way. oh well. since i have it already hurhur.

Currently I see 2 diferrent schools of thought about putting a filter on the lens as a protective filter. One of the two says that: "what's the point of putting a 20 bucks filter on a delicate 1000 bucks lens". The other advocate the use of filter.
Personally, I don't use filters except going to beaches.
