Film Starter with Basic Questions

Bottom line is, best you keep important stuff by your side. If some custom official or security official swipes your precious DSLR, nothing much can be done beyond filing a complaint from outside the country.

As for film, stick to ISO400 and below and you ought to be safe. ISO800 is iffy, though my Solaris 800 film from Chiif did survive my June work trip.

the hand checking varies from airport to airport. i know in the us, they do state up front that you can request for an inspection for film. but i usually run them through the hand carry scanner, so far no problem

the machines that i've seen usually state that they're film safe of up to iso800 so i guess that's where the figure comes from. do let us know how your film turns out :)

Hi:) Finally finished mine test roll of ISO1600 film, yes it survived the airport scanners and the photos turns out well (gone thru luggage scanners 4x). Anyway this is just a personal experience to share.
