Hey guys,

I have a question. I have a Canon EOS 66 I got from my dad. I have no use of it and its taking up space in my dry cab. I'm trying to sell it but can't seem to sell it away. Is it not worth anything? Pls shed some light....

Not that it's worth nothing... Just that an EOS 66 is not worth $150...

If you may, maybe you can roughly let me know of the value?

Would you buy a canon eos 66 at a reduced price of 100sgd ?

OR

The question is: how do you value a eos 66 ?

a. recent transactions (ebay, no takers at 25 usd)
b. what is being offered in the market ( i checked keh, excellent body, $17usd, http://www.keh.com/camera/Canon-EOS-Camera-Bodies/1/sku-CE029990794560?r=FE

also, i checked amazon, used rebel xsn which is the eos 66, selling at $usd 19. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-xsn-Rebel-XSN/dp/B001AA3CQI )

c. what comparison products are selling ?

Open it up and tinker with it. Good luck.

Hey guys, thanks for your replies. I didn't know the camera is going that cheap now thus the price. Now, I'm not sure if i should just keep it or not. :(

Better to just put some rolls in and shoot.

Keep - buy two rolls of expired film at $7, shoot and develop and scan at another $13 or so and you done something. When free do again.

Sell - sell at $20, eat 3 fast food meals with the money and settle your one day's meals.

I've got 2 RFs i'm shooting exclusively now, a 50D and few other cameras which i shoot once in a while. I guess it makes better money sense to keep it than sell it cheap. :(

The best solution, but in 1 roll of film and use it.

At worse, just put it outside as a decorative display.

Don't throw it away.

I bought a Canon EF film body for $8 in Japan, working perfectly. It looked pretty sad in the junk box of the camera store, so I bought it and now use it with my EF lenses.

Yep.. thanks for the advise

That's a good deal!

Unfortunately it seems like the more vintage/retro looking film cameras such as Canon AE-1 and A-1 fetch far more, probably because of the look, feel and availability of cheap lenses. Quite sad to see these newer cameras lose value!

The EOS 66... that was my first slr some 10 odd years ago!

Do you still have any AF lens for it?

film bodies, unlike their digital counterpart, doesnt add value to the pictures... it's more like a tool to get the picture itself and the rest of the effects is achieved through the lens and film itself... hence this might be the reason that the value for any film slr body now is pretty low... you can buy it for thousands years ago, but prolly fetch you less than 100 now for mainstream models... i got myself a eos 50 awhile back, still in rather new condition but i spent another near $100 to service and clean it up... so buying the camera off your hands at $150 will probably set the buyer back by additional $100 more for cleaning and servicing...

If anyone got a Leica Platinum R6 film SLR and think it is worth nothing, please give it to me.

I should say that those vintage film cameras are more mechanical than electronic. They can outlast electronic counterpart easily. That's why they are worth more than newer electronic cameras.
