Hi

I was using this 35mm SLR film body and the pictures came out darken on about 20-25% of the frame on the bottom. The effect varies with different shutter speed. At times, the mirror also lock up after taking the picture.

Please advise what might have happened, whether it is the shutter or mirror issue.

Thanks in advance.

Can u give more details? Body type and lenses, flash, etc etc

bottom of the frame of photos mean at the top of the camera frame causing the problem, do you dis-mount the lens to see whether the mirror is fully goes up when shutter fired? and check is shutter blades fully open when using a slow shutter speed?

Hi, the body is Contax RX and the lens is Carl Zeiss 50/1.7 C/Y mount.

The mirror goes up fully when shutter is fired.

On closer examination, the issues seems to come from the mirror as the the 2 holes (lighted up area) on the shadow matches the mirror mechanism (at the back of the mirror). Is it fixable?

Thanks

I have the same issue with my spotmatic SLR. It needs cleaning. If it doesn't solve the problem, shutter mechanism
might not be working properly. Might need CLA for your camera.

Most likely the mirror of your RX slipped. U mentioned about mirror lock up. If the mirror lock up is solved by removing the lens then it is confirm mirror slip issue, which is a common problem for Contax bodies other than Aria.

I had a similar problem, your shutter curtain only opens halfway. Thats what david from P&G told me. Exact same problems, your shutter needs readjusting and lub
