Hi as per the title says, Derrick that normally scans my film is no longer providing such a service. Where else do you scan your films? Derrick really provided a fantastic service at a very affordable price. I'm still a student so buying my own scanner is kinda out of the question for both time and money issues.

Yup checked it out and will be sending my 6 rolls of film to be scanned by starvingjack! thanks for all the help. BTW, went to check fotohub today. Their scanning is super expensive.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience from a DIY-home-darkroom service.

I've learned my lesson and will send my rolls to a pro lab in future.

For S$6 this is the cheapest with the best image quality that u can get in Singapore.
I tried Ruby & Triple D before, their price is more than S$12.

Isn't that due more to the processing not the scanning? How would the scanning create a stain unless the scanner or the negatives were wet?

hair n dust can be tricky to remove..even if ICE is enabled..and ICE doesnt work on black n white film

joshuachan28 - whatever the case is - I'd sent my roll for processing and scanning to be done by the same person.

What about investing in a film scanner for long-term usage...?

I would if i knew what i would be doing in the next 4-5 years. I'm doing my A's in a few months then i would be off to NS for 2 more years then uni for the next 4. I think i would hardly see much time during NS to shoot and i may not even do my uni in Singapore. So buying a scanner now wouldn't be a very good investment.

Yes this pushed me over the edge and I bought a Canon 8800F at Comex yesterday. Since I shoot almost only on film, I'll just spend $ at pro labs for processing and scan them in myself. Can even scan my old negs in! Yeah!

yeah, DIY scan is cheaper in the long run...i calculated that I just need to scan 40 rolls of E6 slides to breakeven when I bought my V500...so far, I had scanned about 10 rolls liao...:D
