Film prices

it is a pity that shooting film is so costly in Singapore I realise it when I am back. I thought Moscow, where I live, was expensive with all its taxes and markup, but on the contrary its the opposite. A roll of velvia 50 (135)cost 290 rubs... about 12sgd, dun need to bargain, dun need to hunt. Even the train ride to the shop is cheaper than our MRT. Developing e-6 @4.50sgd and negative is less than 2sgd. They even sent an sms to info you to collect, which is usually within 24hrs. The ladies at the shop are also pretty, speaks english and polite. Free membership where you can get discount after getting enuf pts. Have a large batch of rolls to develop and lazy, there is even courier service for a small fee.

How I wish such services & prices are available in SG. haiz... mov e so fast.. we phase out the old and fun things in life.

I think that's because manpower is expensive in Singapore. There are some shops which are cheap in processing films too. they also offer delivery at price of 8SGD. But for sure, films are very expensive in Singapore.

what does it mean when you buy film by 100ft? example tri-x 100ft? someone please clear my doubt.. and when you guys say that online is cheaper you're talking about buying it together to split shipping fees?

The process is called bulk loading. You buy a 100ft roll of film, get a bunch of empty film canisters then load the film yourself with a bulk loader. It's cheaper than buying individual rolls, but obviously only makes sense if you really love using that film.

a major disadvantage for bulk loading film that has often been overlooked is the possibility of scratching the film. if you do not take care of your bulk loader and canisters, they will scratch your entire roll of film, wasting all your film. but that aside. if you do it well, you will be saving alot.

hey guys, i read through the thread and realised there were many price changes since the start of this thread. so does anybody know the current prices of Fujicolor Superia 100 or Fujicolor Reala 100? thanks :)

LOL! There's really nothing we can do about this one, can we? There aren't that many blondes in Singapore to start with! :-)

The worst part is that you pay quite a bit for development but it isn't done well.

I got tired of looking at the messy format I created, so I shall change it to this -

If you have updates to the prices, do leave them here and I shall update the chart :)

Its getting more and more expensive to shoot film now... Didn't Arista Premium is Trix rebranded as well.. I thought only ultrafine extreme 400 is.

I wonder if its possible to find Legacy pro aka neopan 400 rebranded.

Maybe can do a googledoc and share it. Not sure if that'll work..

i have recently brought 3 roll of fuji superia 400 for around $5.50 each, too bad no pack of 3 pricing from fotohub. im about to finish my 1st roll of film but where to develop and scan for good price + result?

fotohub offer me close to $10 for both developing the film and scan to the most basic jpeg files.

fujifilm also increasing price? oh no..i just started film. :(

guess have to try out agfa vista or kodak color plus liao..

Hi welcome to film photography, cheapest place to develop film is either tripleD at burlinton, ruby photo or fotohub. Bear in mind fotohub is the only place to do e6 processing, dev plus scan to jpeg at tripled is 8 bucks if i rmb correctly

thx shadowleong, is dev plus scan better? so i assume if develop and scan at tripleD is around $12?

dunno wat fotohub scan is but the $10 package from fotohub jpeg scan is a 4 base scan of estimated 1024x1536 resolution ones..

Dev + scan (color 35mm) @ Fotohub was $8ish 2 years ago. Not sure about now.
