Dear all,

Poor guy. This happened to you. In fact, last year, I did encounter problem like you.

Saw a Fujifilm DSLR brand new unit for sale at SGD$650 on thursday. Specs are 6.3 MP and 10.7X Optical Zoom. Was wondering if its a DSLR or a DSLR look-alike only.

Can a DSLR be that cheap?

Hi, pardon me if i am wrong, its not a DSLR, i think its the Fujifilm S6500fd. Its a prosumer bridge camera. Has those manual focusing rings that make it look more like a DSLR. I am using it right now. Haha, no money for DSLR.

Proper securing ur system is a good idea. So you will not have problems when u really clicked on it :).

I patch my system regularly and my antivirus program aborted the trojan horse connection.

After spending countless hours scanning my system with the following tools...

Lavasoft Ad-aware
Avast 4.7 Antivirus
AVG 7.5 Antivirus
Bazooka Anti-spyware
Rootkit Analyzer
Spybot Search and Destroy
Spyware Doctor
Trojan Remover

There was no trace of the trojan horse, worm or virus. It seems that the antivirus software has effectively aborted the trojan horse entry attempt.

Nevertheless, I have made some changes to my security policy.

Updated the antivirus software to the latest engine and signatures...
Changed the existing firewall to a Checkpoint firewall...
Installed spyware monitoring tool which monitors trojans and keyloggers...
Patched the operating system with the latest updates...

Going to boot into Linux later, mount all my NTFS and FAT32 filesystems and scan for virus again.

Seems that the source of the problem is from here...

Also going to do a McAfee FreeScan, Symantec Online Scan, and Trendmicro Housecall online scan later...

Will put all my video editing and rendering projects on hold...

You're wasting time with all this rubbish ...

You only need the Lavasoft Ad-aware, AVG Antispyware and AVG Antivirus ... Unless you bought a copy of McAfee Virus scan, the others are a waste of time ...

I disagree. Ad-aware is not that effective whereas spyware doctor is really good.

No single antivirus program has signatures for all the virus out there in the open. Hence it is prudent to scan with a multitude of antivirus programs so as to have a certain level of confidence that no virus exists in your system. It is not possible to have 100% confidence even after scanning with several antivirus and antispyware programs.

There's one called Ad-ware which IS a spyware... :bsmilie: Many got tricked by that...

It is safer to download software from http://www.download.com

If you prefer to download the latest version of the software from the manufacturer's website, it is safer to check download.com for the URL of the manufacturer's website.

The Lavasoft one is the one that you should use. But I only put Spybot and AVG. The others are usually spyware.

That's where AVG or Spybot comes into hand.

For antivirus, you can just stick with AVG. I won't put too many as they hog resources. You're wasting ur resources and time installing so much software which run on startup.

You shouldn't run more than one antivirus program at any one time. When switching to other antivirus programs, un-install and install.

Same for software firewalls. You cannot run two or more firewalls at the same time.

There's also online virus scanning from Symantec SecurityResponse, TrendMicro Housecall and McAfee.

I only got AVG free antivirus... Nothing wrong till now lor... :bsmilie: (*keeps fingers crossed)

Now thinking of putting up perimeter defense hardware...

It is better to use Linux/UNIX/BSD more frequently. No troubles with W32 worms and Windows-based trojan horses. But video editing software is more feature rich in Windows.
