Hi there,

am i right to say that this overheating sensors acts as a safety precaution?

Yes. Sulhan has made good point as well. Batteries do contribute to the state of the heat as well. Some ppl swap batteries to help cool down the flash unit. I dont know how much it helps as all these is just new to me.

Although same type of battery were used....use model of individuals may vary. I personally have worked on desiging temperature sensing circuit for digital cameras and ran tests with many battery types - both single use and rechargeables of all sorts of chemistries....temperature sensors are very important in portable devices especially like flash where battery venting could occur. Well great if the batteries dont burst in your flashes but if it does....someone may get hurt + flash getting damaged. 60 to 70degrees C could already vent batteries - plus the fact that the batteries are in enclosed space. Especially if fast cycling on just the 4 batteries - without external pack.

point taken bro.

yeah, i do notice that the batteries get super hot after some time..

swapping batteries sounds like a good idea.. should try that out the next time i got a big shoot.. :)

for me, i will use 2 flashes to interchange giving one to cool down after some usage.
