F31d vs F30 - Is it worth the wait

Got my F31fd at $600 from Song Brothers Sim Lim 1st floor, incl. GST + 1g xD + case + mini tripod + extra OEM batt 2500 mAh + lcd screen protector. Weird to see the original batt is only 1800 mAh...

Got mine from SLS, AlanPhoto, S$590 + 1g xD + Case + extra battery + lcd screen protector. Good service by Gavin.

yesterday, i bought from MS color still $599 + 1G xD(type H )+ Case + extra oem battery(3100mAh) + lcd screen protector + mini tripod . i upgrade the 1G xD to 2G xD(type M) cost me $645, I don't know whether the price is good or not..:think:

Thanks for all the Lowepro picture. It's available at some shops but may I know where (which shop) to purchase the Lowepro at a better price. Was quoted $31 for the original Fuji leather case which I felt was over priced.

I learned from my colleague, when he was at People Park yesterday, one shop quoted him a Fuji F31fd for $480 (incl GST) with basic package (no xd card, no battery, no case).
I dun believe it, price drop so fast?:cry:

There is a difference between a quoted price and a sale price.

Man, I have been researching the net for a compact camera that performs well and seems clear to me that the F31 is the only choice for me. It is well testified that this 'average looking' camera is a low light champion but outdoor shots are not that critically acclaimed. I have seen samples of outdoor shots both of F30 and F31 and they seem fine to my amateur eyes. With the price inclusive of all the goodies, I would say the F31 is a fair deal. May be going to Singapore soon and hope to get hold of this star performer.

I need a compact camera to bring around and I shoot mostly now of our 6 months old daughter indoors which could prove difficult with natural light. I bought my Panasonic Lumix FX1 way back in June 2004 and I am happy with it although the low light shots are difficult hand held.

Can anyone sway me away from a F31?

Stay with F31.

6month olds should not be a problem, i guess. It will be more challenging when the kid started running about. At that time you may need a DSLR.

Why need a DSLR? The shutter lag lag on the F31 is pretty much not felt. As for focusing, you can always pre-focus.

damkuff, why shoot only in natural light? There is a good flash on the camera. Natural light is very often wrong lighting for a situation/composition. The front flash on the F31 is as good as any compact cam's.

And to sway you away from the F31, there will probably be F32 next year ;p

When I bought my Panasonic Lumix LX1 back in June 2004 from Best Denki, I had a blown pixel bulb on the screen and went back the following day to change it. They looked at it and without further questions, replaced me with another brand spanking new one.

Can someone please tell me what the price of F31 in Best Denki is and what the goodies are, if any? I am not in Singapore but planning to go there soon. Thank you!
