yah... time to get our hands dirty.

bro, which session did you went to ah? next time... identify yourself leh... :)

I believe if F1 asked for photographers to volunteer to shoot the event.. the lists will be the longest you ever see..... ;p

Thats bec photography is our hobby, I dun think road marshal is by any means anyone's hobby.......

I was at the session on Sat. Was told that we can bring cameras and shoot when off duty. ;p;p;p As long as we are not seen taking pics on TV and it does not interfere with our primary duties.

But cannot go crazy with the lenses.. Since we will be quite close to the race, I'll just bring along my 17-55mm heehee can't wait.

Whats interesting is that there will not only be F1 but 3 other events - Porsche, Aston Martin and BMW.

maybe i'll bring along my PnS. no point bringing DSLR lah. most of the time, will be on duty. if off duty, means there are no races going on. even though if you get to rest while a race is going on, i don't think can take pictures right?

I was on the Saturday class. Room 1-2. My class was conducted by Raymond, Ankur & Sue (from CAMS). I suspect Bro. seankyh is in the same class with me le... Correct, seankyh?

IXUS 50 will be my weapon of choice. That's what I will be bringing. :)

i confirm will sneak a few carbon-fibre pieces out if possible... :bsmilie:

was told that if the pieces are small and insignificant, can just put into your bag. of course, don't think you can take the entire tail section out right...

You mean you were the one at the front with the other lady who has flag marshal experience? You were wearing a blue shirt on that day?

No. I was wearing white shirt. One of the 'volunteers'. I was also the one who said 'seowleow' when they asked what state it would be after one of the clips where all the cars crashed at the starting line.:bsmilie:

maybe if you open your eyes big-big (like nemo in your avatar)... then you can see him :bsmilie:

I think the presenters are not well prepared.

The way they handle the questions sometimes is like trying to skirt the issue, I mean, volunteer to do free work for the organisers who are making millions of dollars never mind...but WTF, ask us to better go and buy our own ear muffs, and gloves and what nots, as such things are "not enough...limited supply"...I mean WTF!

We are VOLUNTEERS - KNN, already give them our precious time and RISK OUR LIFE, they have the cheek to tell us to buy our own ear muffs, WTF!! You mean they make so many millions of dollars cannot afford to protect the hearing of the marshals with ear muffs, have to resort to trying to cut cost by asking marshals to go and buy own ear muffs? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Did you guys attend the F1 car appearance at NDP? The noise from ONE F1 car alone is well above 130 decibels, what more the whole lot of teams that will be racing the entire circuit on race day, you think those SAF issue ear plugs are going to be enough?!! YOU WILL GO DEAF before the end of the night!! The worst thing is that Singapore's business district is packed full of tall building, and the immense noise from the F1 cars are going to be AMPLIFIED a thousand times when they echo and ricochet off all the buildings!

If they are not going to supply ear muffs and gloves to all marshals, I think all of you must speak out to assert your rights. No doubt volunteers work for free, but asking them to FORK OUT MONEY from own pocket to buy ear muffs, when it is an absolute vital item for the marshal's duty, is bordering on taking advantage of the volunteers. It is better for them to supply it to the marshals and then take it back to use for the next race, then to ask the volunteers to buy their own ear muffs that will most likely never ever see the light of day again after 28 Sept.

To me.... ear plug is compulsory.... I have been to other F1 and it can easily damage your hearing.....

I have similar sentiments as you and the volunteers should be given the necessary equipments to do the job and to protect themself.

It was mentioned that volunteers needed to buy ear-plugs?

Someone in the class aksed this and apparently they will provide although not mentioned in black and white. I plan to get my own. They will prob provide those el cheapo disposable ones.

We were also told to bring our own chairs!! I just can't believe it. Not that I want to complain but you'd think that a multi million event such as this will be better equipped for its volunteers risking their lives :bsmilie:

Let organize MO for chair and ear plugs ;p

Wah you register just to post this ah? U really kiasi :bsmilie:

Totally agree with you bro. One more things about the buildings, the noise could be so loud that it could shatter the glass windows. Then we will have problems with debris.. err.. what flag ah? Forgot leow :bsmilie:
