Has anyone who have applied to be volunteers for the upcoming Singtel Singapore F1 received e-mail that they have been short-listed?
Wtf?!
You mean this event where people have to pay 200 bucks to stand by the roadside need volunteers to work for free (or almost free for that matter?!)
Sorry if i've offended anyone, but this doesnt sound logical to me..

Agree, but I'm sure got ppl stupid enough to volunteer loh...:bsmilie:
Sorry to say, but you may be abit gullible. These organisations earn big bucks in mainly selling advertisements rights, tickets, etc. They are not volunteering themselves, earning big bucks too, and yet they need volunteers? If it was for a non-for profit organisations, yes, I would recommend everyone to do it, but not for this multimillion dollar event............Hello!
Man, it has been a loooong time since I posted on CS.
Hahaha... I feel very sad that people actually think its stupid people will volunteer for such events. But in most cases, events such as the F1 or the SFF are looking more for student volunteers. Yeah sure they get working adults too but its very rare. Most of them are students who are still studying, looking some ways for exposure, make contacts, boost up their resume, make friends, etc etc.
Coming from personal experience since I was a volunteer for SFF twice. I learned a lot about event management and made a lot of friends.
But yeah, cut costs is the main reason.

and for those who think that volunteers are 'stupid'... fyi, all these F1 races employ track volunteers.... and yes, there are people 'stupid' enuf to volunteer cos they love the sport.
if you have no love for F1, nor understand the passion or the sport, pls dun go round calling people 'stupid' or 'gullible'.
hi,have you volunteer already? This is the most pathetic show of stupidty I have ever seen. If your a fan of F1 being trackside is the biggest thrill one could ask for! Many would pay for the privelege to be that close to the action, yet we get to (hopefully) experience it for free and give something back to the sport we all love. Those who criticise have no passion for the sport and therefore should not be commenting on it.
hi,have you volunteer already?
I was too young to volunteer back when I lived in the UK, but luckily ive been able to get trackside for some of the races, nothing beats it!
 then you should since now you are back and qualify.
would like to get some trackside actions if there is a chance.
What is the job scope of these volunteers? i juz hope for the sake of ppl who volunteered its not things like picking up litter or cleaning up puke.
as for being road marshalls, dun we hv auxillary police?hhmm.. coz they needa pay them rite? hhmmmm
