External flash for d90?

no it will not have any dark borders, you may want to read up on how Auto-FP works.

do note that the effective flash power will decrease as your shutter speed get faster.

:)

when I set my shutter speed to above 250 with external flash, i will hav a dark border on the top. Dont know why. Even with ttl mode or manual mode.

Compensation from camera body meaning adjusting the EV values? Thanks

nope. just like how u would increase/decrease the built in flash power output

or by going to manual mode on the flash(meaning selecting the power ouput manually. 1/1, 1/2, 1/4 etc...) if u think the flash power output in i-TTL is too powerful or too dim.

can be many things, cant really tell what's the problem from what you said, best to post that photo up here, and give us all the camera settings + flash settings.

:)

That means the FP is not working..

i doubt so.. if FP not working.. meaning i cant even set my shutter speed above 200? anyway will post a pic soon :bsmilie:

If it's just a flash with just the X-sync contact without the rest of the TTL/flash ready communications with the body, you can set any shutter speed you want because the body won't know.

When the first curtain opens fully, the X-sync will be triggered. At shutter speeds above the sync speed, the second curtain have already started to close before the first curtain is fully open, so the moment the sync is triggered, the second would have already half closed which is why you get a shadow.

Using a d90 too, thinking to get a flash. cany anyone briefly tell me why sb600 suits d90 more than sb900? :/

Thanks in advance. :D

SB600/800/900 are for Nikon cameras.

Just that SB900 is the top of the range not to mention bigger. So maybe big flash on small body(D90 with kit lens without batt grip) unbalance?

if money is not an issue, SB900 is the way to go otherwise SB600 is more than capable.

So if i get a batt grip and sb900, its better right? sb900 should last me a long way..

its up to individual preference. I thought before that I do not need batt grip, but decided to buy one and its so much better to hold now than before.

If u decide to get the SB900, if the weight is unbalance, u decide if u need to add a batt grip, bigger lens or both.:)

true true... but .. i find that d90+ sb900 + batt grip still not well balanced :bsmilie:

if common use on d90,How about Nissin di866?? It's much more cheaper...

yes much cheaper and quality is good too. but those into CLS might find the di866 lacking in some features
