Depends ... yrs is a 1.5x crop right?

Also half body and full body of a vertically challenged person, a normal avarage Asian child, a normal avarage Asian adult, a normal avarage Caucasian child (some of them are taller than our avarage aAsian adults) or a normal avarage adult Caucasian? :bsmilie:

And will you be level with them, below or at an elevated surface?
assuming studio shoot, so everyone is on flat ground and shooting an average singaporean? 1.7m thereas? :)

just wondering, how far away must i stand to shoot a half body and a whole body shot using 85mm? :think:

85mm is goooooooooooooood....................... my standard portrait lens................... although my portrait is sucks................:bsmilie:

If Murphy likes you, his lawyer will tell you that for full body shots, you will need a couple of meters more then what the studio have. :D

There's a way to do this scientifically ...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angle_of_view gives you an understanding of AOV and FOC, and considering yr using a camera with a 1.5 x crop factor with a sensor size of 23.7mm x 15.6mm and a pixel pitch of 7.8µm and an 85mm lens .. that gives you an AOV of

(L) 15° 52’ 26" x (B) 10° 29’ 13"

With an AOV of 15° 52’ 26" x 10° 29’ 13, you need to be badabadabadabada exactly 9.031m away to get the 1.7 m tall person to touch the edges of your frame with the top of his/her head and bottom of feet using a 85mm lens on yr 1.5 x crop body.

Soooooo, that means if you want 'breathing space', as well as space to play with BGs and DOF etc behind the subject, you need anywhere in the region of say 14 - 17 meters lengthwise for moderately tight shots while still giving you a BIT of space to manouver.

BTW, I din understand a frigging thing on that wiki page! LOLZ!

Murphy is the slanganized name of the friendly mama man who used to sell you sweets at the street corner stall while trying to touch yr backside at the same time. :bsmilie:

you go suut in your CMM studio la :bsmilie:
dunno see how :dunno:

:think::dunno:

the most common of Murphy's laws is that

" Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."

There're actually a few others, but i can't recall, and i'm too lazy to google it.
