EXPOSE yourself - XLI

Best is if you learn how to pose on your own, and only rely on photographer or stylist/art director to give pointers, and not entire directions. Learn the basics, then do test shoots with pre-determined light set-ups to find out what works and doesn't work for you.

The two key problems with subjects here is that 1) They have no idea how to pose, what angles flatter their features, how to understand what lenses and light combinations work with what poses and angles and 2) they don't know how to emote and have extremely limited emotional vocabulary.

This is compounded by photographers who also do not understand the above, and how to communicate effectively with their subjects.

Which explains the very blah results you often see in P&P. :bsmilie:

make sure you go high

paris is ugly on the ground :bsmilie:

Is it really THAT bad?

You've mentioned how ugly Paris is in the daylight and now, on the ground.

SOoooo, all those movies we've watched is just fantastic angles and cinematography?

Hots: got catchlights in the eye

Nots: color abit desaturated leh

my million dollar worth :bsmilie:

I totally agree on the colour part. I feel the background is too blur as well.

:think::think::think:

Hmm ... Y de  ?

You'll be surprised how too many subjects don't know the basics even, and call themselves mollers.

Also togs should know their craft, and also how to get the best out of the subjects, if they are to excell in what they do, and even if thier chosen craft is specialising in XMM. You have legions of bad XMM hooters, and very few really good XMM hooters.

i have no idea, but i find paris ugly, maybe it's just me

i find most of london quite ugly. 80% of my london scenic pictures are in richmond park

 because those are good points to take note...

If you realise, I've stopped going to and commenting on P&P except for a couple of series.

I can't bear seeing what I see there.

Hmm ... not really.

I don't live in P&P, so I usually don;t know what's happening there nowadays. :bsmilie: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Please give comments and criticise if you must.

Taken by the boy boy but Teebs did some general ps on it which I feel could be better.

catchlights in the eyes and your left ear-ring, desaturated colours, slightly OOF i think, a little too much yellow in the white balance, and it looks like there's flare?

EDIT: your clothing is kinda crumpled, could have been straightened out a little before the picture was taken

Modelling has gone thru a great change since my days. Gone were the days where all "aspiring models" had to go thru a modelling/deportment course before they could even be considered for modelling.

Now - any lian or hui can be one.

need to add: any mm also can :bsmilie:

blurred bg makes u stand out more :)

It's not difficult Ro-Ro.

It just takes work on both the subject's and tog's sides.

Search hard enough and you'll find very detailed modelling/posing guides. One I remember even looks at anatomy. Show/teach subjects the basic poses, and get them to practise in front of a mirror. DO test shoots and refine till they have at least a few basic poses, then get them to learn variations.

Meanwhile, learn how to light or use natural light with those basic poses, and most importantly, learn how to communicate with the subject. Once all the technicalities have been mastered, the success of a hoot hinges on how well the tog communicates weef the subject.

actually the catchlights here a little destracting...either overly PSed or too "centered" on the pupil.

other than what the rest said about this photo, i feel the pp abit odd, in the ense that the photog may have wanted a soft look, but the dress looks too "hard", especially the line across.

Yup.

And tons of togs LURVE the anime HUMONGOUS alien lizard eye, BBQ skewer false eyelash and fungus nailart look. How do you expect the standards to go up?
