Uncle night86mare,
you just shot the red color bridge. I want to know the composition you have in your mind when you shot it and I want to study this shot.
The red bridge is on the right side of the frame and the houses and sunset is on the left side of the the frame. There is almost nothing in the centre of the horizon.
Is this composition base on the sky light that leads to centre frame as well as the bridge leading to the centre frame also.
Because i did one shot at MBS. There are buildings on the left and Esplanade on the right. Centre would be the bridge. So i'm actually quite confuse and I hope for better sky light to make the composition better.
Please....![]()

Hi Zul, ya go la... I mean if we can join them. but is too high tide.. I can only shoot on a higher ground...
If is only up to my knee, i will try...but then you will not get any of that set of nice rocks without getting wet..
well, but then again, maybe the cloud coverage won't be so bad, and you can shoot the abandoned jetty thing further down.
sure, let me go into detail what i was thinking.
my initial idea was to just shoot the red bridge. somehow, it didn't fall into place just having the bridge alone. firstly, with just the bridge alone it was extremely tricky - a leading line that didn't lead to anything was fine, but this leading line just didn't work whether i went high, low. maybe it could work with a foreground, but foreground was scant, if you have been to the location. even if there was, i didn't quite like that bridge by itself. i was actually thinking about just doing a less gentle leading line with less of the bridge and just cropping it square - something like what you see on the right side. somehow that seemed a wee bit boring.
at the sunset timing, i suddenly came up with the idea of pano to solve all these problems, to have the eye have more to look at. the hdb flats seemed fine on their own, the bridge seemed fine on their own. but neither of them seemed particularly appealing.. just one of those "ok, nice, but yawn" responses in my mind. so i thought, maybe the eye wanted to look at more than just a red bridge or a bunch of reflected hdb flats... maybe lumping both together might work, and it somehow was less boring for me.
breaking it down compositionally, this is something like a diptych in one photo, there are two photos, but i guess they work well together because as you say, the bridge leads to the centre, and the houses. the cloud positioning also helps - i suspect a different cloud formation might have changed this somewhat.
