To be frank, do you photo improve when you are using D300 as compared to your D40?????

My 200mm macro will not fly to the forest and take photo for me.

There are tons of ppls hanging pro camera and pro lens but still produce CMI photo.

This uncropped photo is taken using a super cheap lens, (maybe now only worth S$50)

btw, many of van photo were shot using kit lens.:)

I got one lens, SUPER CHEAP! Mabbie less than $100! Put on $30 extension tubes become macro liao.

WIDE open, can easily wack the $790 Canon EF 100mm macro CLOSED-DOWN!

d300 is just to practice playing around since i may be using something similar in the future. i will still stick to d40 and a light setup because i will bring to school. not realistic to lug around heavy equipment on top of all the usual heap of stuff i already have to carry. and d40 is more than enough for my current needs no use waste money on more expensive cameras for a few extra gimmicks.

That what i meant, it is about practice. Not about bbb that you had mentioned.

practice and practicality. to be honest i have not bbb anything for myself, aside from bags where cameras are concerned. everything is borrowed and practiced with. but i at least want something for myself to practice with without any time limit or having to worry about damaging another's property.

Just keep shooting... and learn along the way...

I can make do with low end lenses also... My zoom is only a 70-210 f4 - 5.6 and I can work with it to produce decent results too. ;)

So weigh carefully.. see what you really need before you really commit and buy. ;)

that's the main reason why for a year i have not bought any lenses.

WAAH! Your X-700 and kit lens much luckier than me! :bsmilie:

:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Actually X-700 is very nice and well built camera, it is still inside my dry cabi.

It's a decent camera. Film days, cam body not so important as you can choose the film you want, but DSLR siong cos choose one body means stuck with that one sensor.

I sometimes wished I have my MX, OM-4ti and med format bodies still ... I still want to get a 4" x 5" one day. Can never forget the sheer joy of using a view cam!

Yeah lor... I never go so many places before too... :bsmilie:

We should dress up as Leong's cam bodies then he take us on world tour!!! :bsmilie:

I know. When I first started, I take a few weeks to shoot one roll, then go and develop only. No prints. No marnie. So take daddy's magnifying glass and STARE at negs using household flourescent light till can go blind, then finally go print 2 or 3 photos only.

Much later on, I got smart and bought film in 100 ft rolls and set up my own B&W darkroom. Much much cheaper per roll in the end - even for transparencies.
