I shot them, not for achievement, but more for conservation and intend of protecting them.

Follow your heart, and shoot what you love.......remember, it is not a job, it is passion, so you really have to follow your heart and shoot it for yourselves, not for praise and not even for friends......but for your heart........

May i know how shooting them is for conservation and protecting them? Not that i'm doubting you or anything i'm just curious as to how photography can help this beautiful creatures. I really do see insects in a different light now.

Previously all i view them is creepy crawlies however now whenever i see a bug i will get so excited as though i've never seen a bug before.

My photo are in book and exhibition, for research and conservation.

Get to know and understand them better... it'll help you in shooting them as you'll know how close you can get to them and what colours of clothes to avoid, etc...

I like it that i can managed to get the focusing right, eyes sharp. What i don't like is that the lighting is harsh but bo bian last minute use pop up flash diffuser that doesn't really work. But of course i feel that it's not the flash fault but mine, maybe i should have gone without the flash and raise ISO a bit i should achieved a better result and if not at least i can say i've tried.

Composition wise of course can improve by making the DF more perpendicular instead of a bit tilted.

Others had given comments on the photo, so I will skip that part.

If you are just starting out on macro, maybe you can do more target practice on "still life" ie flowers first. Practice on composition and isolating your subject from back ground.

white colour reflects UV very well... thus you should avoid it if you want to shoot skitterish insects like butterflies....

Stick to pastels or earth tones.

This is also why generally you see those explorers and naturalists in kaki's, greens or browns.

f/22 at 2.5:1 using DX sensor, stacking of 2 image because of it's angle.

This one is only using one image, because it is more parallel.

Frankly, macro-photography is best when you have a certain knowledge of basic.......skip it, you will be like many of those lost soul in CS.......happily self-high and start organising outing to start their own empire.

Is black ok? Generally i wear black for macro so that dirty won't so obvious. :sweat:
