Your rock is glowing, one way to solve this is to go easy on shadow highlight,

another way is to clone and then erase top cloned layer

Yeah normally i will just go trigger happy and spam shutter. :bsmilie:

I think the second sentence is saying to duplicate the rock on another layer on top then mask away the bottom rock... The will retain the original rock color and texture and not glowing.

sometimes i use Nik software's sharpening plug-in, sometime just USM in photoshop :)

Oh, Iim also using the nik software for some photos sharpening. I ask because your Macro photos are very sharp like uncle Leong. You use USM and do you also use high pass filter like only for the eyes and not affecting the other pixels?:think:

usually i don't, only sometimes i'll mask off selective areas that require sharpening...

:sweat: actually my canon lens not very sharp, need to sharpen more...not like leong and NNB's nikon lens so sharp...:thumbsup:
