'Uspenski Cathedral (Finnish: Uspenskin katedraali, Swedish: Uspenskij-katedralen, Russian: Успенский собор) is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Helsinki, Finland, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (the Virgin Mary). Its name comes from the Russian word uspenie, which denotes the Dormition. Designed by the Russian architect Alexey Gornostaev (1808-1862), the cathedral was built after his death in 1862-1868.
The crypt chapel of the cathedral is named after the holy Alexander Hotovitzky, who served as vicar of the Orthodox parish of Helsinki 1914-1917.
The Cathedral is set upon a hillside on the Katajanokka peninsula overlooking the city. On the back of the cathedral, there is a plaque commemorating Russian Emperor Alexander II, who was the sovereign of the Grand Duchy of Finland during the cathedral's construction. Main cathedral of the Finnish Orthodox Church in the diocese of Helsinki, Uspenski Cathedral is claimed to be the largest orthodox church in Western Europe,[1] although Finland is normally included into Northern Europe.'

more of the cathedral..

Very nice! Wonder how much is a trip there? Such as the airfare alone?

If I recall correctly, no direct flight. You can go with Air France to Paris then to Helsinki, you can take KLM to Amsterdam, and then to Helsinki, you can go with Thai to BKK then to Helsinki, I think you can go with MH to KL then to Helsinki, SQ to either Copehagen/Zurich/Paris/Frankfurt/Stockholm/etc then to Helsinki... Oh, I am certain there are others where you transit in middle east as well...

So, a lot of choices. Pricing will depends on the airline you go with. SQ is bound to be the most expensive unless there is a ticket sale which they might run from time to time... Cannot remember my ticket sale in 2007, but I am sure it was around 1.4K.

i got it with BA although many might shun away from this notorious airline.. transit at heathrow. return trip at 1.8k incl taxes.. i guess KLM has cheaper air tickets, but it's always full.. so it's best to book early. if not, Finnair offers direct flights, but expect their pricing to be close to SIA's. seriously, a finnish girl anytime. :p

haha.. indeed too many parties. there's a halloween party happening now but i'll just be a good boy today!

frankly, i'm not sure because it's with the school. however, looking at the pictures and the itinerary, it should be rovaniemi. i probably have to make another trip again during Jan or Feb because i think there would be some sun and it'll be nicer then. nowadays, night falls from 3-4pm onwards.
