I woke up at 2pm the next day after the Countdown, was just too tired...but made a trip to Danshui in the evening to watch the sunset. It's a pity that there was cloud cover but it was still a beautiful and surreal sight. Danshui itself was very enjoyable, I thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially those fried mini soft shell crabs. Yum.

Thanks. (:

lincolnchan
Thank you!

Yeah I was right in the middle of the 100,000+ crowd, and I was near to the stage so I was basically getting squeezed from all corners. It was rather dangerous to be honest...my tripod nearly fell.

Thank you so much. Yeah you should definitely revisit. I think Taiwan is a place that is easy to feel at home in...and you'll be surprised how your photography angle changes.

Just a candid shot to share. This dog is the shopkeeper for the day. Heh I thought he's absolutely adorable...I love the maltese. Speaking of dogs, dogs in Taiwan are really lucky. They're allowed to be brought into most shops, and most of them have clothes and whatnot. Seems like the Taiwanese are a lot more into pets than us Singaporeans.

Longshan Temple MRT station, which really surprised me as I was expecting a more traditional station but it was real artsy fartsy and modern.

Thanks! About the mini fried soft shell crabs, when you come out from the Danshui MRT entrance, take the lane that is nearest to the river. Then you should see a shop with a sign 小龙虾...they may have those mini lobsters as well.

Shilin Night Market, famous tourist destination and no need for much explanation. This guy sells pretty good sausages.

Whenever I see a hawker this serious even in cleaning the utensils....I can sense their food cannot be bad  This is the kind of attitude that will maintain good food quality

The CKS Memorial Hall. I really liked the place...it was big, first of all, and beautiful. Reminded me of China probably because of the architecture of the National Library and the National Theatre. I was rather amused at how a group of boys were practicing hip-hop in front of the ancient-looking buildings. Was lazy to get a picture of it though...too tired from exploring the other areas. (I told you the place was big)

Big Kahuna
Yeah you have a point, gives you some sort of reassurance.

This should illustrate the size of the place better.

A nice series of people and places in Taiwan.

Were you able to go to KMRT Formosa Boulevard Station ?

Thanks! Hmm nope I didn't go to Kaohsiung. It was a pure Taipei trip...not really a touristy one, I met up with local friends and went to movies and stuff it was really life in Taipei at the basics.

Is the KMRT Formosa Boulevard Station a place to go next time though? What's there?

I been to taipei twice and had been resisting to go back...now you bring back all the fond memories i have had over there...

I liked #2 and #8.
Good shots

Great shots Windward
I really like the mood of your photo series
Are you using 450D ? and what lens you carried to Tiapei ?;p

The last time I was in Kaohsiung was in 1997.

Some photos from my Flickr friend, KMRT Formosa Boulevard Station.

The KMRT Formosa Boulevard Station is their only interchange in the train network. I was there last december and noticed a lot of photographers... :D

The colorful ceiling decor is on B1 and accessible to public. Lost my way inside the station while transferring train then... LOL

Rgds,
Joe

Wow those are fantastic photos! Will definitely make it a point to go there if I visit Kaohsiung at the end of this year.

Why resist? Just go back. Haha...I feel like flying back now even as I type.

I have a soft spot for parent-child interactions. (:

nice series indeed, however, why do selective colouring in pic #2 and #3?

moreover, the intent is to shoot architecture subject but its human that is highlighted instead.
