Happy with it, and no intentions to pay a few more thousand dollars to upgrade to D700. I'd rather spend that money on more lenses.

Seems like most of D300 owners are happy with it becoz it realli rocks and also Nikon has done well in the marketing aspect of Post Purchasing Customer Satisfaction haha... for D300
Hi...am very happy with my D300 EXCEPT for the problem of hanging...which came back to haunt me again last Friday when I was just shooting for a family event.
Anyone has any solution apart from bringing it back to NSC? See my previous thread.

Otherwise its a great camera....for the sake of my excellent DX lenses , I'll keep it working for awhile. Perhaps till Nikon can come up with a DX friendly FX camera i.e. one that does not go down to 5mp in DX mode...the day will come.

- The default sharpening for the D300 is less than the D200. Hence, the pictures may look a little soft, so would need to bump up the sharpening by maybe +3 in your picture control. This is more for shooting in jpegs, but some people prefer to leave the sharpening to post processing.
What does he mean by this?
That's true. But I believe they can do more than that by organising a class for all the D300 newbie to demonstrate the various / all the functions. Just like what SONY has done, by having an ambassador like Julian.W to share his experience of the Alpha System...
Something along this line will be just perfect as we have spent so much![]()
