excellent clarity and fine details...however, the highlights are tad bit overexpose especially the lights at the right end of Custom House...

Thanks Thomas.

You're the first one to bring it out in the open. That's actually one of the things I can't seem to resolve. If you will notice, most of my nightshots have overexposed citylights. I'll probably do some reading on how to fix it since it is that noticeable.

Thanks for the critique bro. Appreciate it, really.

Hi Nathan,

Perhaps a technique called 'black card' may help you on the problem. Am not sure but it worth a try. Here, a link to share with you:

Cheers..

And here I thought black cards are only for fireworks and forced long exposures. This is definitely worth a try. Thanks for the help man. :)

Hi Nathan & Thomas,
Can I just add my 1-cent worth.. Black-card technique is useful when you have areas that are much brighter than others in your frame. For example, I used a coin-shaped (star-shaped) black cut-out on the Lotus thingy (art+science museum) if I'm capturing the MBS.. the Lotus is always over-exposed during normal circumstances (AND assuming you are too lazy, like me, to do blending of multiple exposure)... For cases where only many spots are brighter.. it will be difficult to apply black-card technique..

I would usually capture night-scene much earlier, to prevent the lighted areas to be toooo bright.. Nathan, is your aperture set to large?

And Nathan/Digitalpimp - Nice series of Pictures.. I have been following but just tooo lazy to write :) ...

Hi Clem. Sorry for the late reply. Been busy.

Anyway, valid point. After reading the tutorial twice, I figured it's gonna be hard to isolate the overexposed lights with the use of a black card since it doesn't occupy a big chunk of the frame unlike a bright sky (as per tutorial). Still a nice and ingenious alternative to an ND (+1 to Khairul).

I usually play around f11-f16. Do you think the aperture choice contributes to the unwanted brightness? Will try your suggestion to shoot early. Never liked a black sky anyway.

And yea, I am an avid follower of your thread too. Also lazy to write heehee. :bsmilie:
