lol..CCs usually have tight budget..

my $120 is about 2-3hrs without prints..give them 1 CD(abt 100 selected pics)

longer hours definately will charge higher lah..

and the above rates only apply to CCs and RCs..

all those who still want to outsource to me, do give me a PM.. ;p

good keep it up! CC needs photographer like you to survive on their tight budget.

Bro u have any lobang for CCs or RCs job not.... i dun mind the travelling distance.......... ;p

sorry to tell you. the way you all think CC hv that low budget is wrong. it's just simply you guys have been taken a ride. i know a photog who does regularly for CC, he charges $350 for typical session(not AD 12hrs) for CC. why? this simply shows that photog can get the good profit not those miserable ones that most of you guys are getting. is he worried about loosing job? i don't think so cause he put in effort before and after shoot since he has paid well and at the end the clients like his job. it's a win-win.

but for $120, how much time can you spent on it? doubt you'll be spending more time before and after shoot. then in the end without all these good preparations, you skill growth will only be mediocre, nothing fantastic. worst still if you continue $120/job, it'll surely be push downward when sg population grows. since you can accept lower pay, there are others who can accepts even low than yours. in the end who's in the losing end? it's time you do educate your clients first. be firm and believe in your work.

personally i get $200 per 2 hour job with some prints from CC. why can't you?

oh btw, i'm not trying to flame you guys but it's my 2 cents worth experience just that i feel sad for you guys as well as the turning of quality life in sg.

On avg I charge 400 for a 4 hour job; no prints just CD. And I don't think that's expensive - even from my client's point of view.

That's why the low rates good for CCs and RCs.

Anyway, even long term collaborations, it shd not be the low, no offend, but will the clients pity u if one day u need more money for emergency?

Will they pity u if ur cameras breakdown, and no pics was taken due to that?

i charge higher than the regular CC photographer but they still give me the job when their regular photographer cannot make it...so no harm done to me...haha...it is the quality of the pics that matters....know what to shoot, when to shoot, etc.

sometimes, u will just kill yourself with the low rates....

Good earners... Good jobs for you all...

Anyway TS I think you got the answer now as you know what not to do otherwise ppl may say this and that...

Is the CD that you burn for them for storage only or video montage of the event, and how do i apply for the job

Just curious, do you guys need portfolio for CC shots?

Hello Alexljy,

Just curious, do you guys need portfolio for CC shots?

If you were the client, would you want to see a portfolio? I am not being sarcastic, asking yourself what your client would want is the 1st step to understanding photography as a business.

Yeah, understand your point here, no worries. Guess I should work on a portfolio before considering such stuff. As a side note, portfolios doesnt have to be like 'offical' photographers and stuff right? Say just covering events for recreational purpose e.g. shooting newpaper big walk or friend's parties etc ll also do right?

Got paid for a shoot off the street without second thoughts by a dance teacher. No portfolio to show and only shot one on the spot to show my ability and she's contented. Was paid $280 for that shoot and got more assignments coming up. :)

just wanna share, from an events organiser's view....hehe

i work in a non-profit organisation, run alot of events. Sometimes we ownself use compact cam to shoot (even for vid clips!), just to save cost. But for bigger events - more than 200 participants, we will engage an official photographer to have a journalistic style to the photos. :P

We pay average of $100/hr, soft copies of photos.

We have used a few photographers already, just to have different feel for the photos, our paying rate is the same for all...so our choice is mostly based on word-of-mouth.

So far, we have very helpful friends & staff who volunteered to shoot some photos alongside the official photographer, so we have quite a good collection of photos *thankful*

that's a reasonable rate. glad to see not everyone is out to rip off everyone else!
((=

now, if you ever need someone to cover events...i'm available!

CC & RC events normally have VIP and GOH like MPs and Ministers launching something. So it would help if you have been an official photog before, more convincing and sometimes with tight security certain shots might not be able to capture if you are not an official photod bcos every damn news photogs will be crowding around to get the best angle/spot. My experience taught me that.
