probably it's the on/off switch.. haha..

it should be connected to the internal dynamo
pump it a few times and it will charge up the internal capacitor
thus allowing a truly battery free digital range finder : )

well, according to the field test report, the lever "the camera’s shutter is cocked by a manual lever that feels much like a short-throw film advance. When I first read about this feature I questioned its value. Now that I’ve worked with the camera, I find that I really like it and like the rhythm it helps to create when I’m working. It doesnt sound overly-interesting.... You can get a nice used SLR for less (1Ds anybody?) which does better image-quality wise...

Depends what you want... You can't be overly discreet flashing a 1-series camera around right? An RF is smaller by far!

Not only that, a RF has by far a much quieter shuttle sound than a SLR.

And not to mention the lighter weight and cool factor.

It's a real pity that Epson Singapore decided not to bring the RD-1 into Singapore, but well..... there are always other sources.

Believe me, if I can get my paws on a film recorder (prints slides from digital files), this rangefinder will be on my to-buy list! You must try a true rangefinder to understand why we still use such cameras. I've been chased by security thanks to just holding a Dynax 5. Same place with my RF, in full view, no one cares.

Agreed! Though... I have just got an Argus C3 (anyone remember Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow?), the shutter is *loud* heheh. Like... ka-tang!

I'll be keeping an eye out on ebay - hopefully this baby depreciates the same way as all other digital peripherals.

Bought mine in HK, about $23,000HKD, S$4500 at that time. Now I can use almost alll my M mount lenses on a digital body......

BTW it is almost impossible to mail order from Yodo unless your name is Japanese...otherwise the site does not allow you to input most non-Japanese names......even the vpost japan address gives problems.
