Escape to Moalboal

Hi everyone, just got back from a trip to Moalboal, Philippines over the Vesak Day holidays.

We spent 4 days diving there and did a leisurely 11 dives for a nice, relaxing holiday. There's a difference between a dive trip and a dive holiday.

Here are some pictures to share, and a video I put together.

#1 Peeking round the corner. There were tons of pipefish littered everywhere at the coastal dive sites. You almost have to be careful and not step on one

#3 Lionfish on the prowl

#4 Anthias flitting about

#6 More sardines, uncanned

#7 A monstrous barrel sponge covered with sea cucumber

#8 Subsistence fishermen on bangkas. Nets are prohibited at Pescador Island to protect the sardine population

#9 Swirling sardines engulfing the diver

Love #1 & #9...

Btw Bro... is diving in MoalBoal good ?? Planning to return to Philippines next year... haven't decided to go MoalBoal or PG yet...

nice video sharing it on facebook if you dont mind...

james - to be honest the diving is quite boring. that's because most of the dive sites are along the coast, and have the same topology. A flat reef followed by a drop-off and mostly wall diving. The only sites that stand out are Pescador Island for the sardines (but also wall-diving), and the airplane wreck (which didn't have anything else worth looking at).

But it's a nice holiday place to relax, and there are other adventure activities you can do like canyoning and river climbing too. I think 3 days of diving is more than enough.

wasak2000> sure, go ahead!
