EPL-5 or OM-D EM5

Olympus m4/3 & Panasonic m4/3 are sharing the lens right ?

I am so amazed that Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 is very compact and light weight.

Does it have comparable IQ to Olympus 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 M. Zuiko Digital ED ?

For me, definitely the EM5. The only reason is the dials, it makes a difference when you need to capture "the moment"

Agreed. The dials "saved" me many times when I'm out shooting. Haha.

My mother will say "no money don't buy lor, waste money" hahahah, now she eat her words ask me shoot for her church lol

I plan to use combo of Olympus body with Panasonic 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 Power OIS , the smallest zoom pancake kit lens.

How about Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ?

Is there any other significantly better kit lens than the above ?

As kit lenses go... all are about the same. The best in class is the older Panny 14-45. That has been known to have the best IQ for any m4/3 kit lens.
So whether you use the newer Panny 14-42 or any m.zuiko or zuiko 14-42, i dont think they differ by much in terms of IQ.

Anyone knows if there is place you can have a hands-on with the 2 cameras before deciding? Most of the electronic stores only have dummy sets...

Best at Vivo city has 2 demo set of OMD.

To keep it simple, if I were u, I'll get the EPL5 and Pany 12-35/f2.8. That is if IQ is your top priority. If u need something SMALL n compact, for the price, just get the XZ2.

BTW I use a 9790:)

Yep... fully agree. The E-PL5 with the Panny 12-35 is very good! Just dont be tempted to use the 2x digital teleconverter mode. The loss in IQ is quite bad.

I think to keep it simple, any 2 of the 3 lenses (14/2.5, 20/1.7, 45/1.8) is good. Even all three added up is less than a second hand 12-35. Hahah.

A little off track, but which do you think has better IQ and more worth for the money - EPL5 or Sony RX100?

Depends. Rx100 is a fixed lens compact. No flexibilty of changing lenses. If you want the versatility of changing lenses then E-PL5.

So you need to ask the question - do you want to be able to change lenses?

Assuming PQ is equal...

RX100 - if you want almost PNS size camera but with a large 1" sensor
EPL5 - if you want an interchangeable lens camera.
